Organic Tea Business

Good Afternoon,

Well here goes my first post, I appreciate this question has probably been asked multiple times but here goes anyway.

My wife is currently in the start up phase of an organic beauty range and one thing that both my wife and I have agreed on is that we would like to sell organic tea's on the back of it (white and green along with some others)

Now I'm a mere mortal gas engineer so this is a bit out of my normal remit in regards to work but here goes. Wherever I search I can't seem to find a large, bulk tea supplier. The ones I have signed up to and looked at look more like distributors themselves so I reckon margins will be rather small (I understand this may be the way I have to go down to begin with)

From what I have read I understand that approaching tea plantations is a no go due to them only dealing in metric tonnes. I am looking for some advice off some kind people that have either delved into this line of business or know of any wholesale companies that operate within the UK for me to buy from. It has to be organic as that is the ethic of the whole company umbrella. Any advice is much appreciated!

You might want to visit the natural and organic trade show in London in the next few weeks (start of april I believe). Perhaps talk to Infinity foods, who buy (and repack) lots of commoditised stuff, and are into organic big time.

The market for tea of ferociously competitive mind you, and with the best intent (not knowing about organic beauty products) I would say that the beauty products should take centre stage in terms of effort.

Turmeric, by the way, is very popular right now.

It produces quite a nice tea, can be somewhat subtle. Think of a niche market.
