So ive used Orange Broadband and the service was terrible, it was always cutting out even though after many phone calls they said it would be sorted - It wasnt!

So the account was closed and they sent me a letter to make the final payment owed.

Called up and they will only take a Credit card payment and not Debit payment which was used to pay the account for the past year. I explained i dont have a credit card and the man who could only just understand me after 3 / 4 repeats explained i must go get another card and then call back. along with repeating.. you will face legal action if you dont call us back with a credit card.

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? total joke!!
They cant get someone to answer to phone in proper english and wont take a debit card???

[/rant]

Orange were the people who advised me that I needed written permission from Microsoft to use Outlook instead of Outlook Express if I used Orange as an IP, because otherwise it wouldn't work.

Excellent company, struggling to break the MS monopoly by not supporting Office.

Sorry but that has had me in stitches. Don't you just love some companies.

Yeah, I've found Orange to be fairly rubbish as well. I was with them for about 3 years beacause I was too lazy to bother changing. During that time I had a very slow connection and one which kept disconnecting as it pleased. When I initially joined them they said we had to have a credit card to make the monthly payment from, I never understood why but we had to get one anyway.

Now I've joined O2 broadband and can't believe what I've been missing all these years!! I've truly been brought into the future in terms of both service and performance. :)

Every ISP has some horror stories - NTL/Virgin have had some real humdingers. I'm with Orange and they're passable. The need to configure the connection to wotk with MS Outlook was a bit of a pain but fixed in about 5 minutes.

I'd think about changing myself but every time I look at someone I read some awful experiences and decide against it.

Don't worry, it's the same with Vodafone. It's been 6 months since I took 3 phones on a contract for my business and still I haven't received single invoice that would be 100% correct. There is always some problem with extra charges, adding service etc. Every time I have to call them, explain everything, I reclaim all additional charges and then I can pay the remaining balance - via phone using credit card - £6 extra charge for it of course

^^ But that's Vodafone and the OP is talking about Orange. It would be interesting to hear their reasoning behind only wanting to accept credit card.

Ive emailed them after another call failed to actually get through what i was trying to do (ie. pay the final amount by debit as thats what ive always paid with over the last 5 years)

I have not had any difficulties recently but when I did, Orange were very difficult to deal with. I wrote two letters and received only standard replies. They advised me to phone their national rate telephone line in order to resolve. In the end, I didn't want to spend time and money trying to resolve the situation (I wanted a refund for loss of service).

I need to spend some time looking for another supplier!:)
