Hi All,

I already run a business, but I'm now also in the early research stages of a possible new business.

The new business would offer the following domestic services:

Regular Domestic Cleaning (min 2 hours per week)
Regular (6 or 12 weekly) Window Cleaning
Regular Garden Maintenance (lawn mowing, hedge cutting etc..)
Yearly Gutter Cleaning
(Possibly yearly chimney sweeping)

Customers could mix and match services and pay 1 monthly payment by direct debit for their chosen services.

The idea is that we would be one business offering multiple "regular" services - meaning that customers only need to deal with us - not multiple different businesses for each service.

Comments / constructive criticism please... :)

As you already do windows, it makes perfect sense IMO. A nice little brochure to be given to each existing customer, outlining options and prices. Simples!

Sound eminently sensible, Your primary marketing is going to be word of mouth/ reputation, so be sure to offer some sort of encouragement to your customers to introduce their friends and make sure this process is a simple as possible for your customers to use. Theres plently of free ways to set up a suitable web/mobile site to manage this.

No negatives coming up from what I see here. You already have the low hanging fruit of existing customers, and it's a lot easier to up sell to existing customers than it is to find new customers. Makes sense, and as already mentioned by @The Byre above get some flyers/cards put together you can leave with your existing customers letting them know what you can also do for them.

Bloke who cleans our wheelie bins already does similar. Offers a range of cleaning and maintenance services. So he does our patio in the spring and cleans the gutters twice a year.

Makes sense. Like most young(ish) people, I don't love talking to new service providers and would be glad to just have one person do all these things. The simplicity is definitely attractive!

Regular domestic cleaning - but what do you actually offer?

Some companies offer dusting, hoovering, cleaning bathrooms. But they don't include washing down kitchen cupboard doors, bin emptying or tile cleaning as these fall under 'deep clean'.

Might be worth outlining on your flyers what you actually get under the 'regular domestic cleaning' section.

Good luck.
