We are planning to host networking sessions at our business centre in Tibshelf, Derbyshire (just a short drive from the M1, junction 28).

Subject to demand, we plan to hold the networking sessions on a monthly basis, for around a couple of hours in the morning (possibly on a Friday). The target is to have 10-20 different businesses represented. We are striving to create an informal, supportive group, with no pressure to obtain leads for others.

The cost of attending would be £10, which would include tea/coffee and a pastry.

To register your interest in attending the first session (planned for August), please post a reply or phone Nick on 01773 590088 / 07970 284848.

Definitely interested, we do quite a bit of networking in that area.

Keep me posted please.

By the way, Marvin, I note on another thread that you deal in used office furniture. We're after approx 15-20 matching stackable chairs for our training room. Do you have any suitable chairs?

Its a little bit out of my manor but I will keep watching this thread.

Not sure about launching in august though...

Thanks for the replies so far. Please note I'm going away for a couple of weeks so will not be able to respond to any new messages until the end of the month.

What does anyone else feel about launching in August? Is it a bad idea? Open to suggestion.

A quick update: we are holding our first networking event on Friday, 4 September. The cost of attending is £10, which includes tea/coffee and a pastry.

The plan is to trial the idea for three months, meeting on the first Friday of the month. If it proves to be popular, membership of the group will be required, charged at £99 inc VAT. Details of the members will be included on a website, with a link to their site.

That's good because I was hoping to attract an accountant to the group! Perhaps you could PM me with your contact details and I'll keep you posted...

You haven't specified a start time, or are you going to be pm'ing everyone in this thread with that detail?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Anyone else planning to come who hasn't sent me a PM? We have a mix of various businesses down to attend...

Just wanted to say thank to Nick (& Mark) for an excellent event this morning - I will be going to the next one and would encourage others to give it a go...

Thanks Sara, it was great to meet you - glad you enjoyed it. I'm pleased to say we also received very positive feedback from others who attended. I think we have the makings of a good group.

For those who couldn't attend, we have agreed to meet on a fortnightly basis now rather than monthly. We will therefore be holding our next networking event on Friday, 18 September, starting at 8.30am, with tea/coffee and a snack served during the first half an hour.

We hope you will be able to join us in a fortnight. Perhaps you have a contact who may also wish to attend - the more the merrier!

...a reminder that our second networking event is this Friday (18 September), from 8.30am to around 10.00am. Admission is just £10, which includes tea/coffee and a snack. It's an ideal way to make new contacts and generate business.

Please don't hesitate to invite any business contacts you may have. To assist with our plans, please email to confirm your attendance. [email protected]

Hope to see you on Friday!

Cheers

Hi,

I came across the post about "Networking in Derbyshire" on September 4th. I would like to know how it went. What was the forum like? How many businesses were represented and what types? Are there any additional networking groups in the Derbyshire area?

I will be moving from the States to the Nottingham/Derby area and am looking for groups to network with.

Hi Kim

We initially had a good response, with around eight businesses represented from various sectors. The feedback from those who attended was very positive.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the following scheduled meeting due to a number of people being away or ill. We now have to try and pick up where we left off and in the hope of establishing regular meetings.

Perhaps those who are interested could get in touch.
