I ordered some rihno roof bars last week and had an engineer coming around this morning to install it. He told me he cant install it permanently on them. I was very disappointed and I even specially asked them if its possible and they said they can. I will phone them up tomorrow to get some refund because I could've done it myself.

anyways, do you think I can drill some holes and DIY myself? Basically I'm based in East London and people steal things alot.

A friend of mine has welded the nuts on that hold the clamps together.
It would need a grinder to remove them.

Not sure if this is something you could do with them bars but worth a look.

Did you have your heart set on these. I get mine from Trukrax. They specialise in racking systems tailored to the model of your vehicle. It only takes some basic DIY skills to fit.

Go to your local nut and bolt type supplier and get some bolts like the type used in prisons, like a normal hex head but triangular/star etc
I know more money but at least they should be difficult to steal.... I always work on the fact that a scroat will take what they want so you may as well make them do something for your hard earned!

Surely drilling holes the van will devalue the van more than the cost of the roof bars in the first place? If you're clamping ladders on top you could always use the lockable versions, can't imagine anyone would attempt to take them off with ladders attached.
