Hi,

I am about to register a limited company and have a few questions..

1. I’m already a director and major shareholder of another limited company. How does this affect?

2. I would like to set this company up without people at my existing company knowing. Is there any way I can do this?

3. Would like to register the business to an address that isn’t my home address. I know that you can use accountants address but does this mean I need to get an accountant at this stage?

Thanks

1. Separate company. You still have to fulfil your director responsibilities.

2. Why would they be searching to see what companies you are involved with? Public information is accessable.

3. You don't need an accountant to start out, if wanting to use their address then perhaps a good idea to sign up to at least use that service?

2. Its more that I don’t want my current business partner knowing about my separate business ventures. May not be searching but sometimes these things can pop up occasionally.

3. Yes good point. But service would I be getting if there is no VAT return or end of year accounts to do yet?

2. Its public information and really is it anything to do with them what you do in your spare time? So long as not breaching your responsibilities as director.

3. You want to use their address, expect them to charge.
You could use a different address - accountants aren't the only place you can get an address.

Yes, that’s understandable but didn’t realise they have a service for just registering at their address?

I want a non-residential address to look more professional. What would you suggest if not using accountants address?

Solicitors address. Virtual address.
Some relatives address. Some friends address.

I've no clue about professional view of address, I do not bother to look at what a company registered address is in terms of residential or commercial. It makes no difference to me.
Perhaps it does to some of your future customers?

There are companies where you can rent a posh-sounding address in London. I found several when I did a quick google search. From my memory about £60 a year and they forward your mail to you for free.
