Naked self-portraits - would you?

This reminds me of someone I used to know. In their home they had a bust of a female torso and a male torso which were apparently her and her ex husband's plaster casts of themselves which were their wedding present to each other.

If you could have a naked portrait (a photo) that was altered digitally to look like modern art, and not so much like you (aside from in form) would you consider it as wall art for your home?

The reason I ask is that never in a million years would I have a naked pic of myself anywhere in my home on display, but if it wasn't obvious it was me and looked like rather tasteful, modern art, I'd consider it.

I'd consider it on the basis that at some point I will look like modern art myself (for real) so it might be nice to capture the memory of my form before it's lost for eternity. Vanity I suppose, with a teaspoon of modesty thrown in.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a market for this more descreet form of erotic self-portrait.

Your thoughts?

I would but after 4 kids and still with my mummy tummy don't think it would be:

1. fair to the person doing the protrait,

2 or fair to everyone I live with.......... :D

Ok so I am wandering around the internet and thinking wow, I really do need a picture altering of me naked - so heck what do I do - oh yes I know - find a total stranger that I have no experience of, or know nothing about them and send them a picture of me naked!

Just thinking this through ie as per possible client - why would someone send you a picture of themselves naked? How do they know they can trust you and trust that this picture doesnt end up somewhere it aint supposed to? What guarantees can you offer them that you are genuine?

Anyhow else see trust issues here??

UG - I've commissioned two more diamond dust originals from Simon today, one Audrey Hepburn and one Sophia Loren. Unless you fancy having a crack at them...?

Have you made a decision about this idea yet?

I used to be a big fan of Sophia Loren

I couldn't compete with Simon :) I might have a go though at some later date. Meanwhile re this naked portrait 'idea' it's been added to my bursting to the seems folder of 'how to make a fast buck'. When an idea gets inside there it's never seen again! :)

I 100% agree

Hence the idea is shelved. It occured to me that:

a) no one would want to send me naked pics and

b) I don't want to receive their naked pics!!!!

Maybe a better idea would be to write a quick 'how to make yourself look good naked' guide! :)

Hi

I think it would be quite nice. There is some work by Bob Carlos Clarke who was a photographer that is very tasteful and looks really nice.

I would consider buying something like that but would like it digitally enhanced first lol

ooooohh so where is your pic hanging then?

The one of me? No idea where the artist(a relative), has stuck this.
It is not hanging in her house anyway.Ha.:D
I was extremely pert as well, at the time.

The one in my living room is above the tv.
But no one pays it that much attention though, because the living room is domainated by a 5 foot 4 foot, bright yellow pic of Mena Suvari, the actress from American Beauty.

I think this is a good idea if done well, and that the market could be wider than at first thought. Assuming that this is more 'erotic art' that 'porn' and was not instantly recognized as oneself then it would be a goer. I think the point here, is that you will know that it's a picture of you, and you can chose which of your visitors to tell and which not to tell. I reckon it could be a real talking point if done tastefully. I would be keen to understand how the actual process works and what the final picture would look like i.e. would it look more like a sketch when processed?

A friend of mine went even one better. He had a huge murial all along one wall of his club of a seascape with his wife naked coming out of the sea bang in the middle. It was somewhat remincent of that scene in the Bond movie where Urssala Andress comes out of the sea in her little bikini. The difference was this scene was in black & white and discreetely done with the moon shining on his wifes fce an the rest of the body in shadow so you could only make out the form and little else. Not that i think his wife ould have minded. She was a model.

Going back to your photo UG. There was a fashion in the early 70s for wives to have a professional photographer take a pic of her naked in a tastefull pose to give to their hubby. Came about I think after Yoko presented John Lennon with same.

Me I was into photograpy myself and took a terrific pic of my wife holding our new baby. Both in thie birthday suits and very discreet it was too.

Go and get it done babe.

I think the fashion is still there O-E-E... I still get asked (from time to time) if I do boudoir type photography, usually from brides who've booked me for their wedding day.

They want pics doing that they can present to their hubby as a gift on the morning of the wedding, usually.

I realised after I posted that you'd already come to a conclusion :)
Makes sense to me! While the idea is great in principle would I actually do it.... errrr, no :p:D

I think with the brilliant effects one can achieve these days with digital pens , photoshop and so on the possibilities are endless. For example today I was thinking about backgrounds and they could range from fields of daisies to being 'alienified' with a space/moon surface type landing. One could be given a futuristic robotic style body (sexy robot?) and so on.

I don't have these talents (with photoshop) as yet but I'm sure someone out there has and there are the obvious problems as noted earlier (see Jenni's post above).

I could probably hand draw an alien/robot version of someone, then digitally enhance it.

I may experiment with some pics of myself. Please don't all be rushing to send me your naked pics!! ;)
