hi everyone, just to put peoples minds at ease , i have 3 kids and my oldest has been confirmed with swine flu. its basically a cold, so dont worry about what the news are telling you. i will not be giving them UNTESTED VACCINES which i do not know if they will have any side effects and i suggest you do the same. these vaccines are untested, do some research before you go putting this stuff in your kids arms.

Always research what you put into your kids arms! And I'm sure your kid will be fine.

I've taken the piss out of the doom mongers ever since the WHO went to def con 5 and have yet to be proven wrong. This farce will blow over with a lot of very (supposedly) knowledgeable (supposedly) authoritative people looking like plonkers and not for the first time.

glad your son isn't too ill with it BUT, i've only just got over this - took me out of action for nearly a week & i'd started to get worried that i'd never ger better! (obviously mr Drama Queen making an appearance ).

for me it was a bit of a sniffle & cough but ached all over, no strength, no appetite, constant headache, fever cold/hot & worst of all, real tightness in the chest & feeling so breathless. felt really 'disconnected' too, very odd.

i've only ever had 'proper' flu once, about 15 years ago, & that kept me in bed flat out for at least 3 days. this flu definitely isn't as bad as that, but it still aint great!

how was the flu confirmed just out of interest? was it the ticking of the boxes over the internet or confirmed by the GP etc. It does seem to affect different people in different ways unless what the majority of people are getting is a bad cold!

it was confirmed with the gp. i thought it was just a cold - with the symptoms hes got , but it turns out its swine flu. people react differntly to it, my son is just having calpol and it works wonders with him. just waiting for the other 2 to get it now

best to keep the vitamin c drinks up then! as well as the daily multi-vitamins....like i've been telling people! just keep drinking water, take time off work if required and relax..make sure you eat when you can and you'll be fine.

Our son has had it for a week. No fever, no lethargy. He threw up one night and has had a sore throat. It wasn't enough to stop him playing his tuba at band camp (where several of the teens have the flu). Now my wife has it (the worst symptom for her is a very bad cough) and I probably have it too (feeling quite OK today, though). Our doctor gave us (but not our son) Tamiflu because we're in the very early stages, and it seems to be doing its job. We were planning to spend the weekend away at Jekyll Island (south coast of Georgia) and thought to cancel our trip (maybe the only one we'll have time for this year); however, the doctor insisted we go and relax and enjoy ourselves.

(So why am I online typing this? I walked the beach this morning before the temperatures rose. Now it's up in the 90s and too hot for me. The others are in the water, but that's not for me! Mind you, I should be grateful for the heat. This year, we've had so many record low temperatures, especially this summer.)

 

Good luck all and I hope you all get over it son. It isn't that bad and I think you will be able to build up some antibodies incase this booger migrates into something nastier later in the year.

I wish the yanks would stop creating these diseases, then letting them loose on us lol

Of all the people that I know that have Swine flu or have had it, they say that the Tamiflu made them feel worse.

quite amazing really. Reading of some personal experiences of this thing in the media, the sufferers are describing not being able to open their mouths more than half an inch, like swallowing razor blades, not enough strengh to switch on the PC and look at the swine flu website and can't walk. Yet, some people show no more signs than a bit of a cold. And yes, re. Tamiflu - people are saying once they've taken it, its a rush to the loo to honk up

just to say - ive been told by our gp to go to our local hospital and pick up my sons prescription of tamiflu ( although i need to take mine and my sons passports for I.D) but i will not be picking up any tamiflu and will not be having vaccines. Infact my son seems to pick up really well off calpol - which is just paracetamol.

I'm not sure why people have posted negative comments about Tamiflu. If taken within the first two days of symptoms appearing, it does make a difference for most people. It's caused no ill effects for us, and our symptoms have been mild.
