my hermes - fuming

Sent a few parcels with my hermes while we setup with a courier.

My god its painful

today 2 parcels sent to same address

1 parcel shows as signed for by customer. customer promises it was not her that signed and the parcel was lobbed over the 6ft back fence. there was gps tracking.

parcel no 2 (to same customer) shows as being delivered 2 hours earlier - work that one out - says it was delivered to customers outbuilding there is a photo which shows the top of our box but cannot see where it is.

funnily enough though not gps tracking on that one.

I smell a rate - can only reach myhermes indian web chat service and its like getting blood from a stone.

anybody shed any light on this :(

I won't say these are common problems but they are problems you can have with any courier in terms of delivery.
So switch your deliveries to a different courier. And complain to this one about the delivery going wrong.
Odds are the delivery driver will lose his job / quit and may end up working for the next delivery company you decide to use.
Which is a chance you will have to take.

You wanted a cheap courier, now you get to deal with a cheap courier customer service. Cheap isn't always cost effective.

I hate to say this about a courier company, but I had a good experience with My Hermes. Used them a couple of years ago in a business I co-owned at the time. Admittedly, we sent only about 100-200 parcels through them. But we never had a single problem. In the past, I've had numerous problems with all the usual culprits, from Sh*ttyLink to Shamtrak.

I had the same issue - 2 parcels to the same address. One mysteriously got lost. It was worth £250 but the client didn't want to pay the extra insurance.

It took months before getting the minimum £25 insurance back.

I spoke to my local delivery driver, he said that basically the local depot handlers decide what package they will 'hide' and effectively steal ( apparently to then later sell the contents on ebay ), it seems allegedly there are no management controls to detect this sort of theft.

    I no longer user Hermes

well in case there is anybody out there that wants to know what happened in the end....

my customer was contacted in the evening time from a neighbour 3 roads away living at the same door number.

'I found your parcel in my outside bin'

hermes was a stop gap for us while we got things off the ground. starting with DPD this week. hopefully you only have nice things to say about them :)

I use myhermes and have sent over 500 parcels with thin over a few years. Only twice have I had a problem. The trouble being, they are great when nothing goes wrong, but when it does go wrong they are a real nightmare. One parcel was returned as undelivered after a week. I went onto google maps and found the address no trouble. The second parcel got damaged apparently, and if I had not contacted them after my customer claimed the item had not arrived after the tracking said it had been delivered I would never have known. In every instance I have paid extra for a signature, and this does seem to help.

In my opinion they are actually too cheap, so they are then too busy without having the infrastructure to back it up.

If you go with someone else you’ll pay a bit more but save hours of headaches and time.

Exactly! As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

If you consider that DHL/UPS etc are probably at least twice the price of Hermes, that should set off alarm bells as to the level of service that you will receive. We only ever use reputable carriers for this reason. Otherwise all your time is spent sorting out failed deliveries and you receive bad reviews in addition.

I am surprised MyHermes still operates. I've heard numerous instances of and personally experienced very poor service, everything from non-collections, non-deliveries, falsified signatures, and many many damaged parcels.

I often send breakable items and wouldn't trust MyHermes to tell me the colour of the sky on a sunny day, never mind entrust them with a parcel. I'd have no confidence that it would be delivered or signed for if it was. Apparently their courier drivers are about the lowest paid in the industry and it shows. Since switching to UPS four years ago we've had no issues whatsover. Ya get what ya pay for!

I've tried all of the lower priced couriers and had issues with every single one. It's never been the guys at my end as when you're sending 20+ parcels a week, you get to know them well. My issues have always been when something goes wrong you are usually stuck with someone sticking to a script.

The two worst for me were UPS where I arranged a collection from a customer only to find out a week later that I had only been charged for the collection and not the parcels journey! Then DPD who changed the cost for collections from my home so I had to drop off at Sainsburys, twice they didn't collect for 3 weeks!!

So now I only use Senditnow.com, a part of Parcelforce. It costs me £13.30 for next day delivery on the parcels I send and have only had 2 damages in over 500 deliveries and these were both just before christmas.

You get what you pay for I get frustrated by people moaning about these companies when they pay the lowest price . You get a bad delivery service if you try to save money
