more than 1 listing on google maps

Hi all,
Looking for some advice again,
I'm not sure if I should delete some of my listings on g/maps,currently have 5 listing same address,but all the impressions are linked on visitor reports in local bus centre,is it wrong to have more than one listing for your account,if so why do they make it so easy for you to add another business listing?
I have 5 carpentry listings same phone and web address.
1 decorating listing different phone number,address and web site as this is my father law business.
Am I at risk of suspended?
I'm thinking if they are all linked as regards to (impressions and actions)i should be ok.
The last thing any one wants is to upset google!
 
You will get suspended if "you" submitted them from he same account.
You cannot be held responsible if its been fed from Hotfrog touch... etc
The listings will merge in some cases.
Remove the least popular from Business centre.

how can i tell which is more popular as all the impressions are the same (linked)
Do you mean the account as i have 2,both with multiple listings

Just deleted them and knocked my self of 1st page under
carpenters in colindale
and
carpenter north west london

You are quite right about the multiple listings however I am not convinced it will sort itself out :/

My experience of Google Local Business is extensive and somewhat frustrating. The algorithm is screwed, the process to claim unverified listings of your business is completely messed up now (I assume when they tried to crack down on the possibility of hi-jacked listings, which is still possible to do).

Google local business center is a big mistake by google, mainly because it
is integrated with google maps, which has completely different terms than
business center.

The original concept of maps was that anyone could add something on to
maps, but these additions are now mixed in with local business centre
listings which is causing lots of problems.

The local business centre results should be completely seperate from maps results.

And then they catch you and give you a ban, then your landline is flagged up when you try to make a new listing with a new logon. good? NO

It can take a long time recovering from a LBC ban, really its not good.

you might want to explain that to our local business centre ...... they only have 30 odd listings -

all the same address

all the same phone number

all the same IP

but hey what does the council know?

take your pick .............. almost all of them will now have multi occupancy buildings for short term let.

I can name a half dozen firms in my unit with the same phone number on LBC

Well I don't want to explain it to your local business centre or the council, you may be OK for a long time, a rival will just keep complaining on the maps forum then one day its all gone.

I think you`ve misunderstood.


- you can have multiple listings from with the same phone number and the same address - it really is that simple

I've deleted all other listings and I'm back on with my original,It's coming up page one again!! :D

One more question about g/maps for you experts out there!

Does the categories have any page influence ranking,what I mean is
e.g. carpenters in (area) or is it down to post code!

As for ranking higher for carpenters in London don't think I'll ever make it to page 1,that was one of the reasons I had multiple listings to try to get there.

I know google maps another world and a humble tradesman could never con cure!!!

Google is cleaning up the map listings.
You cannot have more than one listing unless you can prove the other locations require one number. But after you list the third one you will always then have to confirm via post card.
Google is also looking at long term directories to confirm data is correct.
EG you claim your business is at 123 widget lane and on hotfrog or business pages that is not correct, Say good bye to page one. verifying has just got harder.
Hence Listing your self in directories has now become a positive.
Google reads website review and comments on all these directories and associates them with the map listing.
so when you submit, google will consolidate any info (email, telephone, web address) and merge the listings where possible.
This isn't flawless.

The one thing that i have witnessed is multiple listing with all three being the same will result in suspension.

Well this is why I asked which one as I have searched for numerous City Councils on Google (UK) and have not come across any multiple listings in the context we are speaking about in this thread...

Can you provide a specific example? :) Thanks

Actually councils and other civil offices are allowed to have multiple listings via a feed and only one phone number but they need to be fed via a uploaded file in one go. Same goes for branches of Banks that use a security number.

yawn ................ I`m sat in a local council run business centre - there are 13 of us here

were all listed

were all the same address

were all the same phone number

were all the same IP

were all ................... different names





do you get the idea now?

The problem is I'm not sitting in a local business centre so am i more likely to be punished?

Anyway i have deleted the other listings now! got to concentrate on building the key words (I think) .

Thanks for clearing that one up, trying to get a sensible answer out of saxondale was obviously proving too much to ask.

I was trying to search for a specific local council to see the multiple listings for myself as I have literally searched about 20 odd councils on Google Maps and not seen any multiple (same) listings

Yeh as an agency managing hundreds of local business listings ourselves for clients, we have the option to upload multiple via csv/xml ourselves, for large companies this must save an awful lot of time. :)

most of the time google will remove some of the listings and show the most appropriate to your business

Show me the google listings with the list of page one results showing all the same address same phone number and same company email.
And I will show you a guarantee future suspended account.

Yes there are accepted ways that need a different type of verification.
Post card and an email to Google.

But saxondale stop telling people its ok to create multiple listings. It is now deemed as WRONG.

I would not waste your time with him... he has not got a good memory.

In an old post it was "I have lots of businesses same number and all that" recently its a business with the same number"

ROFL kid - I have a memory you`d sell for........ I have never said I have more than one business, more than one listing under different names but never more than that

Okay so a quick search for the company name here... (And I'm guessing it's this seeing it appears so difficult to have an adult discussion with this person).

This displays a list of first page results for the company... Am I missing something? I still do not see the numerous multiple listings for the same company that uses the same location, same phone number etc.

Can you explain how I am changing my position.

You are making claims with out backing them up.
Show me a link to a page one result showing 3 results from the same NUMBER, EMAIL and Address.

why search for anything "coney green" - thats a council owned business centre that has several of my customers based there, several customers who are -

all listed on LBC

all with the same address

all with the same IP

all with the same phone number



in fact everything you, ALIV8 and the other kids are saying

"you cant do that"................"it isnt allowed" .............. "you`ll get banned"
