Marketing to rural communities

Can anyone give me any help on this one? I work with renewable products that are effective in reducing energy bills, particularly for areas that are 'off grid'. Apart from telesales/door knocking, does anyone have any other ways to market to this group? Any publications worth knowing about?

Searching 'off-grid communities' has brought up a website called Diggers & Dreamers. It might be worth looking at advertising via this and similar. They appear to have a supplier directory.
