Why do you think you need to hire a marketing agency? These agencies will want £10k to £20k in fees to plant you on plastic carrier bags or something.

What you need to do is get out there and plug your salon, heck, why not use another salons tactics - like leaflet drops, leave cards on the Point of sale unit, stick up posters of offers, sell offers while cutting hair etc.

There's probably some Hairdressing magazine out there that takes advertising, advertise in local press , do PR.......

There you go - that's 7 ways to do it far more cheaply than a Marketing Agency..

What about keeping it simple and using the skills you have inhouse to benefit you??

By having some sort of 'Recommend a Friend' scheme? if they bring someone in you could reduce their next visit or give them a free perk etc.

This would quickly raise your profile if dont correctly and its word of mouth based so it wouldnt cost that much to start.

Dont forget xmas is comeing you could use that ti start the offer somehow.

i hope that helps

Its actually product, price place and promotion so you better get your Kotler book back out and refresh ;)
The thread is also from June so I doubt your offer will be taken up.

Hi my wife and i own a Hair salon and unfortunately are seeing the turnover decrease. We have had the business all but two years and have put all our money and time into making it a success. Unfortunately we are really struggeling for funds for a marketing campaign and feel we need to re-focus the business towads the cheaper end of the market due to the efffect the current climate is having on the econamy, especially around the salon.

Can anyone help with some advise please? How do we get people to know we are there and come to us? We need to increase the turnover desperately. :(

Chris, I wonder if your target audience are office workers. If so, you'd be surprised at the amount of time people spend in social media at work. Since you lack budget but you have time, you should explore Facebook as an area of opportunity, especially if you salon has a nice look.
