Hi All

I've had an ebay shop for ages - and only sell a few items a week (its not my main job) - so i'm basically eating up my capital and stock paying ebay! - not viable to carry on that way. Time to set up my own site or call it a day.

I know theres loads of threads about eshops - but can someone recommend a host/shop for a low turnover business that will be easy to set up, CHEAP and be easy to link to paypal for cc payments. (got to stick with paypal as I dont want to cop monthly fees)

Tks in advance.

Brian :D

I use Mr Site.

It's cheap, integrates with PayPal easily, has reasonable SEO features built in.

It has its quirks and takes a bit of getting used to but easy to use once you know how.

The vending machine site is Mr Site

Look at www.internetretailer .biz its small startups requiring a safe solid baseline and low cost that its aimed at, its a great bit of software (I'm still there 5 years on!) and its that gradual step from ebay to online shop without all of the needing to understand the techie side, so you can concentrate on the business. Its unlimited products so it upscales with you and you can add a bespoke shop design when you're at the stage of wanting to invest a little bit more.

You could also consider making your own with a free cart and just purchase the hosting, cubecart, prestashop etc are easy enough to use.

Hi beautyofnature,

If you want to create an ecommerce website that will costs around £40 a year to run with great easy to use (copy and paste) professional looking ecommerce features, you could achieve this by:
  • Using a free ecommerce website template
  • Use free hosting solution (the free hosting companies I've listed for you below offer paid upgrades to better packages if business picks up)
  • Using our plug-in feature rich Shop Integrator ecommerce toolkit in your website to make it easier and quicker for you to sell online, linking to PayPal at the final stage
  • Get a domain name for a few pounds (www.nameroute.co.uk will give you a domain name and 10 Mb website space and email@yourdomain )
Free Website Templates
Combine the Shop Integrator ecommerce toolkit with a choice of many different free web templates from:

http://www.freewebtemplates.com/
http://www.freewebsitetemplates.com
http://www.templatesbox.com/

Shopping Basket Solution
In conjunction with Pay Pal, you could use our Shop Integrator ecommerce toolkit to add a feature rich shopping basket service to your website, which takes care of connecting to Pay Pal at the final checkout stage to allow you to receive the customer payment in to your Pay Pal account.

Better still, as you are a UKBF member and are just trying to get started we won't even charge you any money to use the Shop Integrator ecommerce service until you have taken order payments for twice as much as your Shop Integrator ecommerce service subscription fee would normally be (our prices start from £39.99 per year). This gives you a no risk, free ecommerce solution until your products actually starts selling and you are making enough money to cover your costs.

Free Web Hosting
Combine this with some free hosting from:
http://www.freewebspace.com/
www.110mb.com
http://www.50megs.com/
www.nameroute.co.uk

If you're interested in taking up my offer of a free Shop Integrator account until you've earned twice your costs for the year, please get in touch.
