Hello everyone, I am looking to start an ebay business this weekend. I would like another person to mentor me and who knows how to get alot of sales. Someone with template design know how would be a bonus. I have made a new ebay account and a new paypal account. I went to another bank and they opened up a business account for me. I have some products that I think could do well. I welcome all your questions. Nick

Get lots of stuff on at the same time
Build your feedback up
Sell allsorts or something niche
Dont waste fees on subtitles, extra pics
Be a normal seller rather than business

Selling anything on ebay needs quite a bit of work to succeed.

TIP NUMBER ONE: Take the best pictures that you possibly can. I don't know what products you are planning to sell, but if they are small then set up a dedicated "mini studio" with good lighting and the right backdrop to show off your product n great detail. One of the tent type foldaway thingies reflects light from the bottom, sides and top, which produces pictures without heavy shadows. Use a digital photo enhancement package on your computer to get the focus, brightness and contrast spot on.

TIP NUMBER TWO: In your description include everything: Dimensions, weight, condition, etc., because you do forget that your buyer is far away and cannot physically inspect what you are selling. That way too you are less likely to get embroiled in returns.

TIP NUMBER THREE: Put your item in the correct category listings. Ensure that you are not breaching any of ebay's selling policies because there are plenty of snoopers on there that will report anything iffy to ebay and you will get your listing pulled with no refund of fees.

TIP NUMBER FOUR: Send everything out promptly, very well packaged and ideally with tracking details for postage. If you don't and someone whines it hasn't been received (even when they have) then ebay sides with the buyer unless you have proof of postage.

Wow thanks for the great advice! I am looking for an ebay business partner. I am planning to sell bathroom and kitchen accessories.

How will you pay for this mentoring? Upfront I assume?

Well If I can get someone on board with business experience then I will want to sell bathroom and kitchen applications, memory cards and electronic goods. I am willing to give away 45 % of the business.

You have nothing but a list of suppliers, that I could probably turn up in 5 minutes via Google.

You want someone to;

- Design the store
- Write the sales copy & get the sales
- presumably take some (or, knowing your form) all of the financial risk
- Mentor you

For 55%, of a business worth nothing currently.

What's in it for anyone else?

Why cant you just do it yourself?

I have a feedback of 1200 on ebay so basically 21 doesnt cut the mustard

Everyone needs to grow up, the past is the past!

My advice to you regardless of your past and the comments on here is to do what you intend to do on your own - it isn't too tough a challenge provided you follow the tips I posted earlier, sales will result.

Study what similar items are selling for on ebay then pitch your price to compete on price, quality or delivery - it isn't rocket science.

Besides, you already have a sort of partnership in ebay and paypal who will relieve you of more than enough money without another new partner joining in.

I can get 10 for £1200 and selling them for around £200 each. I get calls from people who want one with a HDD too.

Just do it yourself FFS- What do you actually need to give away 45% for? Just take some photos, write a nice description, and bang the product up on eBay- How hard can it be?!

CE you just said you were putting all the money up?! Do you need investment or not? What is your £3,000 for?

Im sorry, I dont have any money. I have had a really bad day. I nearly got thrown out my house. I have no job. I lied to my parents about signing on when I haven't. Im sorry everyone, I am just looking to start something on ebay. Things are really bad at home. I have this friend in my town and he offered me a space in his shop to do mobile phone unlocking and sell mobile phone stuff.

This has to be a joke. Suggest we just let this thread die and this troller find something else to do until school starts again.

I will cut to the chase, I am looking for someone to invest in the equipment I need to start working in my friends shop. I dont need that much anyway.

So was the purpose of this thread to mislead someone into giving you some money for the above? Because originally you only wanted a mentor to help you sell bathroom accessories on ebay.

For future reference - trust is a really important part of business relationships!
