Been planning on starting my own company or a while now, but never really had the money to throw at it to getting it going, but now I have so going to give it ago.

Just now the basic company am planning on starting up in commercial cleaning and janitorial supplies etc. But have got thinking am a time severed joiner (long story short, not happy and need leave where I work) so was thinking I could start up more of a property maintenance company. Which seems like a better idea to me, in the short term anyway, for cash flow etc. So if would specialise in cleaning and supplies, but also able to do general maintenance work.

But my really question is, since am from the building trade I know and have a lot of contacts in the trade of people that are good at their jobs.
So am thinking for starting a 'one stop shop' for everything to do with maintenance but specialising in cleaning, supplies and general maintenance work. But for anything else I would have to sub contact out, to clients though my company.

Just want to know if a company like this would work, as in have my own cleaning and supplies company, with staff etc as it grows, and just sub contract out any other work I get that's not related to cleaning or light maintenance work?

And if it would work how would I advertise it? My main company name just now is ClearView, it was going to be cleaning solutions. But now am thinking it might be better just to go with services, maintenance or something along those lines

Thanks for any advice :)

But just to make clear I am planning/have started, starting up a commercial cleaning company, just really asking if its better left as is, or to try and make it into more of a 'one stop shop'

I'd suggest initially you focus on what you are already setting up, because to try to include too many services at once will muddy things a bit, and you won't be pushing your main services as well as you could be.

Focus on what you want your company to do (cleaning etc), then push this, and whilst out on jobs you could informally let people know that you have access to a load more services too.

If you try to do too much at once, you will get nothing done. Companies looking for Cleaning services might not naturally approach a 'maintenance' company, rather be looking for a specialist in cleaning.

Certainly, if you think there are add-on services you could offer, then put this onto your website, etc, but that's about as much as I'd do about them initially.

I agree focus on your key product. It is easy to get distracted.

We started initially (as suggested ^^ ) with all our optional services on our website, but after a while we realised this was just a distraction and caused confusion as to what we really can deliver on.

That's what I thought. Better focusing on the main product, before trying to run before you can walk.

Thanks for that advice.
