Local Linkup

Lets take a look at your website and we will give you some FREE advice.

Hi

I am a "customer" of LLU and stumbled on this site when searching for them in google to get their contact details. Basically I signed up with them around 8 or 9 weeks ago and I am still waiting for the plink profile they gave me to appear in google search engines. To be honest I'm not here to slate them because they havent charged me a penny so far hence the reason I'm not sure if I am a customer and have always been polite and friendly when I have spoke to them, they just havent delivered on their promise of 1st page of google within 4 to 6 weeks. If I was one of their customers who had paid £300 set up fees I think I would be going ballistic now but luckily I didnt!

Around 2 weeks ago after getting fed up with LLU I set up my own free site with Yola which is to be honest not very good but after reading up online on website promotion etc within 2 weeks and no experience of SEO, Google or computers really today I'm on the top of page 3 of google when I searched for "york plumber" and 1st page if I add 247.

I'm spending a fair amount on adwords every month and want to promote my company without doing so. Basically after paying one company a set up fee and a monthly fee for SEO and website that didnt rank either I just want to know is SEO worthwhile, what sort of fee is realistic and what can I expect to get for it. Is first page of google and staying there easy to achieve or not?

This is my second attempt at paying for SEO and I am beginning to think its the modern day timeshare scam lol. I realise my search term is pretty specific and there are other keywords I would like to improve but just want some honest and realistic advice on what is achieveable and at what price or is adwords the only way to guarantee 1st page of google and you just have to pay their fees?

Thanks Darren

Dear Daz

Thanks for your post. Yes in fact you are correct that we have not got you any rankings just yet but that is the beauty of our service, you pay nothing until we do. You can imagine we are working hard to get you those first page rankings and we wont stop until we do. This is a perfect example of the unique Local Link Up offering. Dont pay anything until you get results. To be fair this isnt a long period either.

Your account was setup 7 weeks ago and sometimes it takes a little longer than this to get your results. Each time we make changes we have to wait a little time to see if the results improve so it is not a quick process to initially get up there. I know we have spoken to you a couple of times discussing this and believe me plenty has been going on in the background. Because of how we charge our customers we make nothing unless we succeed as you know.

Despite previous comments on this forum it is not always easy to get rankings and some sites take longer than others but we will get there in the end. Being on Page 3 is not good enough and frankly unless you are lucky as a first timer, getting and staying on the first page takes regular effort. Thats what you will pay us for if we manage to get you there. Until we do please be assured we are working on your behalf.

Just want to pipe up here, and not flaming or having a pop but just a question.

I have looked at a few sites that have had work done by this company LLU, and if you are paying on results, basic things like the Title tags and description need work and not likely to rank for much other than the domain name.

Now me being a customer paying or not but expecting results, i would feel thats letting me down and as i am effectively paying you once the work gets done waiting 6 months when adjusting the basic could accelerate the whole process much quicker is questionable.

As basically all your doing is throwing links or whatever at the site and hoping for the best,

why is on page here not being considered

I bet you will give free advice here but you wont keep working on it until you get results for free? I wasnt aware that you had moved into our market of offering to work for free until you got results. By all means register a domain, create a website and engineer it for the customer. Keep doing that until you get results and our customer will be happy. After all that is what he signed up to with us.

Unless we hear otherwise we will keep working on this customers behalf. My advice to the customer as always would be dont part with any money until you get results. There are many, many self proclaimed SEO experts on here and other forums that offer to do work for a fee. Our offering is that you pay nothing until you get results. Only we lose if we dont get the results. Dont hand over money to anyone unless you are absolutely sure you know what you will get at the end of it. Promises are easy.

Believe me we take all things into consideration. We have thousands and thousands of customers ranking and only paying when they are on the first page. It is not correct what you are suggesting here and if it was then we would not be able to offer this service if we didnt get results. Like all things SEO, it is a matter of opinion and results are what counts. There would be no point us signing up 200+ customers every week, buying them a domain name, building them a website etc etc if we didnt get results. We do and we dont charge until we do.

I am not sure what sites you are referring to when you say you have looked at a few but over 93% of our sites rank within the first 6 weeks so we must be doing something right. The ones that dont get our attention until they do. Our business model, unlike almost every other company in this industry depends on results so we are happy with our methods.

I’m sick of these sorts of companies. It's almost as if they target people who don't know anything. I had dealings with BT Customer Street, I mean look at the reviews, google bt customer street reviews, reels and reels of un happy customers.

Now i was going to give this plink the benefit of the doubt but some of Stuart’s comments seem to make me think this is like almost the same company.

Especially comparing Google seo to a daily listing in a newspaper, talk about coercing people.

I have heard of try before you buy, not buy then try it and if it don't work out you have lost your money but at least you tried.

Most companies that offer a service know in advance that it works and delivers results. I happen to know quite a lot about internet marketing after being scammed by companies I took it upon myself to learn it.

And to be honest there is a certain way you need to attack it, and these expensive big companies are not the ones to use.

I don't think they have ever heard of the phrase "conflict of interest".

Its not a dig at you, it was just an observation i made when 2 or 3 times i have seen people question you working ways, its just when i looked at the websites i did not see the basics implemented.

I know of many services like your that do well, with many satisfied customers, however we all know your not going to please everyone and by not doing the basics it can fuel criticism

However like Panda and other updates unless done correctly may come back to haunt you later, especially when the sites i have looked at all have identical titles and such.

Good luck if its working for you but just a quick mail to advise the customer protects you ..

I hate to sound argumentative but our service is quite simple. Pay if you get results, not pay and then get your money back if you don’t! It is straight forward and detailed in big letters on our website.
We pay all the costs, do all the work and then our customers only pay us AFTER WE HAVE DONE ALL THAT. Even someone coming on here trying to post negative comments about our business model would struggle to make that sound unfair.

Joe what is your real business name as you have listed yourself as Joe the Carpenter from Swindon and what is your expertise in the field of SEO that allows you to post with such authority? I notice you have only ever posted three comments on this business forum and all were today and negative about our business and others and within minutes of each other. We welcome positive contributions and are always happy to take on customer’s feedback. By learning over many years we believe we have built the fairest and most honest business model in this industry. We have learned over the past 14 years that customers don’t want to pay in advance, they want proof it will work before they pay anything and that is what we offer.

It is nonsense to say you must know you can get results otherwise you shouldn’t offer a service. Nobody can guarantee you results on Google, Bing, Yahoo or indeed any other internet property they don’t own. Anyone suggesting they can is lying. What we promise is that if we don’t get you results we won’t charge you a penny. If we don’t, guess what we don’t charge. What we don’t do is guarantee results. That seems very fair.

Thank you for your update. Indeed that is our offering. Free until we get results. 1st page of Google otherwise you pay nothing. It doesnt work for everyone but we get pretty good results, our business model depends on it.

In respect of that title tag you referred to it has 65 of the suggested 66 characters in it that our experience tells us is effective and is widely accepted to be the correct length for Google. It mentioned his main phrase and areas he covers. I am not sure what is wrong with it. I dont really want to discuss our methods on here as we work hard and dont get paid until we succeed but people go on about Panda updates etc but if our customers drop off the 1st page they immediately stop paying so again this is our problem. Customers have nothing to lose.

Of course being on the first page of Google is not the answer for everyone but Local Link Up is a very cost effective way of a business finding out if indeed Google will work for them.

I have experience with your previously owned company. You know BT customer street the one that has all the negative press.

Bt customer street sounds exactly like what you are doing to me. You say you are not in competition with BT yet I have seen a plink created website. Looked similar to something vista print does. Maybe this is the upgrade to the plink page

For someone who is not "argumentative" you sure do a good job. I have read over this thread and I'm not very impressed at all.

My expertise in internet marketing means a keyword stuffed plink page that looks like something the free index do for free will never outrank me.

I have also read about what you offer on moneysaving expert. Some one there suggests you lose the 300 pound set up fee, and there is reference to a 300 pound set up fee on this thread. Looks like you have decided to drop the set up fee. I also have found reference on the internet that suggests you charge your customers 30 pounds per domain name.

Im not suggesting any of this is true, but it does not look good really.. In my opinion going with larger companies is not the way forward. Like i said they do not know what conflict of interest is.

Dear Joe

I have no idea what you are talking about. I am not being argumentative, just stating facts and it is up to our customers to decide if our package meets their expectations and value requirements. Being free until we get them results gives them ample opportunity to make that buying decision I think.

Yes indeed we did use to charge a setup fee but decided to go with no upfront charges a year ago which we believe makes it the best package of its type in the industry. Why is that a problem?

I have worked for Local Link Up for 3 years and I I am pretty happy with what we do here. We maintain exceptionally high standards and offer a package that is fantastic value. It is clear that you don’t like it but that’s up to you. We are very happy that we offer excellent customer service, a package that offers that you need pay nothing unless you get the results you expect and no contracts. What could be possibly unfair about that?
We have and have always had an unlimited refund policy and it is in our terms and conditions and published on our website. It is nonsense that anyone has ever “lost” a fee with Local Link Up.

You are saying you aren’t suggesting anything but clearly you are. You seem to have a very negative agenda. You are not a customer of Local Link Up and have never experienced our offering. I am suspicious of your motives I have to say!

We are fiercely proud of the service levels we offer. Anyone who wants to experience that can find out without spending any money. We think that is the way to do business. We have a great product set but we can’t please everyone of course. There are always people who don’t like what you do in life but that’s as maybe. Luckily for us over 200 businesses a week like what we do. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t pay us!

What was your business name or web address, you didn’t say?

Sorry no you have misread I said.

No, not pay first! Read our website. Pay nothing at all until we get results. That's the point I was making. It is not pay then get money back later, our customer pay nothing until six weeks after they get results. This has been gone over and over earlier on this thread.

Hi all am no expert but feel as i have experience of being a customer of local link up and bt customer street ,I should have a say.
I did not have any pushy sales but admit i did haggle with both these guys, to get what was required.A few splash pages were built to link with my main site for various key words eg bi folding doors surrey.
Within a matter of days I had 1st page viewing for all key words , that was a year ago and they still maintain 1 st page and produce enquiries.
Apart from the main search engines I can see from my anyltics on my main site that these splash pages are are producing the next highest hits to the main search engines and that work generated has made the initial cost outset nothing compared to gains.
This is only my personel experience not a critism of either argument.

I really can't see how these people get away with it and actually get business....

Looking at Dave's page as an example here

  1. As Ali says, you have duplicate content
  2. Title tags are awful
  3. H1 tags are non existent
  4. Site is developed in tables
  5. Has keywords for a description
  6. Design has no call to action, you won't get any enquiries
That was what I saw with a 2 minute look. People refuse to pay £250 for a website that will rank and will convert and they will own but are happy to pay £40 a month because it is cheaper.

You could get something like this for under £300 which you would own and would get you enquiries. (that exact site paid for its self twice over last week)

So let me get this straight, they are charged for impressions on Google? It is so easy to get a site ranked for pathetic keywords.

It is very easy to find fault in other peoples work. I get sick a tired seeing your replies on here where you deperately try to pick fault with our service and lets be honest its what you have done from the outset. You seem to excel at it. You seem to spend much of your time on this thread picking fault despite not putting up any of your work to be looked at or justifying your credentials. How many customers do you actually have? How much do you charge? What do you offer your customers without them committing to great expense. It's fine coming on here offering a free critique of other people's work but why don't you go and find your own customers and concentrate on them. Even if our customers post they are happy you can't accept that. To be honest it says a lot about you not us. Even when our customer post compliments to us to say our service has delivered I dread it because it always sets the nutters off again. You cant take it as a positive, you have to sit there nit picking. You must be so proud of yourself.

Remember at Local Link Up we provide a free service until our customers get results and then it's free again if it drops off. No matter what you and indeed other self proclaimed seo experts post on here and other forums we will continue to offer a great value package where customers only pay when they get results. You can dislike it and you can desperately try to criticise it. We should really take it as a compliment that you are so desperate to find fault but I can't help being annoyed reading your posts on here. I wish you could just go and spend your time getting real customers of your own.

After you running your business for 9 whole months I will continue to accept your criticisms with relish! You are certainly the world expert on seo it seems.

I have tried to be reasonable and polite to you and the others on here but it is really tiring trying to do a good honest job and to keep reading you lot posting your expert opinion on our offering and negative comments. As I have said many times our customers are best placed to decide if the service works for them. We get around 200 new customers per week. That makes us easily the fastest growing service of its kind in the UK in this very tough market. That's because our service is free until we get results and great value even after we do. Something I doubt you can compete with, that's why so are so desperate to find fault.

Any way clearly whatever I say you are going to keep coming on here and posting your "expert" advice I guess and I am going to keep defending our unique offering. I will have to try to learn to take yours and other criticism as a compliment and your constant attention as flattery.

Just for interest the constant attention on here is good for our business. People read this thread, wonder why you are so bothered about what we do, wonder why it is such a threat to you and probably think that they can't see what is the problem with our offering because of course there isn't one. Something that is free until you get results and then very low cost after that can't be bad can it? Luckily for us people look at our offering and think it is worth a try. They then find out that we care and work hard to make them happy and get them results and like what we do. I bet you haven't had customers ringing you up saying they love your posting on here and your offering sounds unique etc. We have. We are getting several customers a week because of this thread. I should say keep up the good work but I would rather not have to waste my time replying to this. As I have said before I wish you would concentrate on your own customers. That's what you should be doing.

Do these links also get you business?

Also, when you type "Local Link Up" into Google, their suggestion is "Local Link Up Scam" that appears top.

It would be good to see some of the stats from some of these sites, to see the terms they are ranking for.

If anything, this thread will show what their staff are like and probably put them off using them as well as the money saving thread about the rude staff.

I bet lots of people see negative reviews on the net and think "I know, I will sign up"..

No mr smarter. Nice bit of self promotion.

We get away with it as you kindly put it because we don't charge anything up front and then a very low monthly fee. We don't charge for impressions on google as you suggest here, neither do we charge £40 per month. Please read our website and get your facts right. I have explained our offering many times on here.

We could also offer a £300 web site and spend much more time for our customers but many people out there currently can't afford that. We are catering to a market that want to see results first and pay later. We respect customers right to make an informed decision. I also haven't been on a forum posting comments about your business. That's just not professional and it says a lot about you.

We will happily keep offering our service even if it ruffles a few self proclaimed seo experts feathers. Sorry if you don't like it. Personally I do and so do 200+ new customers a week.

It says nothing about me, it says more when you read a thread about aggressive cold calling or people taking money from accounts.

It is nothing to do with proclaimed SEO experts, I don't claim to be an SEO expert but Dave's site is a poorly coded, poorly designed site with no on page SEO and no backlinks at all (apart from the ones he has from here and it is probably them making his site get indexed / rank).

I know nothing about you as a person personally, but I do have 2 of your ex customers as clients so do know little bits.

Oh you are so clever pointing out one posting about Ben being perceived to have been rude. Yes in fact he has been spoken to about his tone on the telephone but we employ many people and by and large they are all friendly and very professional. I am mortified if any of our staff upset someone but we do make hundreds of calls a day and sometimes we get it wrong. Ben has learned from this post which was originally started last year your will note.

I dont care what you think about our coding. We dont charge our customers if they dont get first page on Google so the risk is all ours.

Our customers are well placed to decide if our service works for them. Certainly far better than you are. They come with us because it is great value, gets results and there are no contracts. Its that simple. Keep bleating on about forums posts etc but quite simply our service is great value and our customers pay nothing up front so there is no risk, unlike your service may I point out.

This is pathetic point scoring. If you wish I will start posting smarter web design scam on forums and see how long it is before your name is tagged with a google instant search? Then I will start a forum on here make loads of posts about what I dont like about you service etc etc. All too easy.

As I said before, when you are a big company you are always a target for people taking a pop at you. We live with that but it doesnt mean we have to like it.

I am proud of what we do and the offering we have. Our customers like what we do and if they dont they can vote with their feet. They will have risked nothing. Thats is a fair as it gets.

So are you saying what i pointed out was a fault with your work??? I just pointed out YOUR work, which you clearly class as good.
Duplicate content on multiple URL's... As a "so called expert" i say that's bad. in fact ask anyone with a tenth of my knowledge who has been hit in the head with a pick axe then trampled on by a herd of elephant on a heavy night out drinking if duplicate content is not good and you would still get NO NO NO.

I didnt pick fault. You delivered them yourself with the sales pitch you provided.
And why is clarification mean i am finding fault.
If I ask the questions that people should be asking why not just give an answer instead of going into the same sales pitch. over and over again.

You say I excel in finding the faults in your service.... should they not be there at all.
Also you came on here calling all SEO's with your comments, and trying to destroyi reputations yet you were part of Iomart and ufindus.
If you read my posts they are questioning what you said. They are not just criticising just for the sake of it

It wasn't me who started the threads though?

You are welcome to tell me what you don't like about my services, constructive feedback is great and can only help a business.

What is the risk when paying for a website? It would be optimised to keywords that actually get searched so they would actually get traffic and actually make money from the website.

I am not being personal towards you or trying to steal customers just posting so people can see and like you say will vote with their feet.

On your site you say people are ranking for these keywords for 30 odd p a week:

Hanwell House Extensions
Disabled Driving Lessons In Aberdeen
Boiler Contractor In Uxbridge
Uxbridge Motorway Driving Lessons
Boiler Repair Services In Hayes

None of those get any searches, so what is the point in paying to rank for them?

I am not having a go at you, I don't know you and you could be a lovely chap and if somebody posted with a problem with a service I had given them, I would be breaking my back to fix it.

I am not slagging you off or slating you, just questioning why anybody would want to rank for keywords that don't get searched for. It is pointless and a bit misleading as you only give the option to have bad keywords.

Believe me we didn’t start a thread on here. I do believe one of our employees thought it was a great place to self-promote but it wasn’t with the blessing of Local Link Up. I wouldn’t ordinarily waste my time. Like I have said many times our customers are very best placed to decide if our package works for them. You can sit here sniping but it doesn’t change that.

We have over 300,000 phrases we rank for and some are more competitive than others. I am certainly not going to bother try to justify each and every one of them. Many long tail searches provide business for customers without being the most popular phrase in their category. Customers can revise their campaign at any time and choose their own phrases so again I guess they are best place to decide which phrases they want. We strongly recommend that they see what works for them and do that. Once again it is easy to fault individual phrases but they are phrases our customers have chosen to try. Are they wrong for that? It is very cheap for them to dip their toe in the water then remove phrases they don’t like over time. Many of our customers add and remove phrases as they go along.

I have no intention of criticising all SEO agents as you suggest. I am aiming my comments at a particular subset who spend their lives on here posting negative comments about us and other businesses. I have dealings with many, many SEO professionals who would never partake in this nonsense. I was merely pointing out that it is simple to criticise someone’s work in any field. Everyone can find fault. Indeed I won’t always be delighted with everything that everyone in our company does but the problem when you are not a one man band we have to accept that the company is represented by individuals that sometimes make mistakes. We try to maintain great standards and have excellent customer support but ultimately we are the only company that will live or die by those mistakes because our charging policy means we don’t charge the customer if they are not customer getting first page results.

Ali you are welcome not to like our work and criticise it but when it is played out in a public forum it simply smacks of you trying to damage our business. Indeed many of your comments have been as such. I won’t apologise for being positive about what we do. In the main our growing customer base likes what we do. Again you should concentrate on your own customers. How many do you have. Can we see some examples.

I note Smarter Web Design is very open about a small selection of his sample customers who in the main seem to concentrate on a national search level or even international. They are presented well and engineered well but I must point out are in a different market to what we do. We only do local phrase marketing meaning we would sell builder in Morecambe but we wouldn’t sell un-localised phrases such as genuine motorcycle parts. Clearly this market needs much more attention to get results and a longer time investment. We dont pretend this is the market we are in and never take on that type of work. We do have a limited set of these type of customers but only on the back of our main customer base and it certainly isn’t a market we will be going into. It is best left to the SEO experts who can get a long term commitment from their customers and charge a reasonable fee. I don’t believe that Smarter Web Design charges only £299 for web design and seo on competitive national phrases including hosting and domains etc but if you do then fair play to you. Ultimately it still won’t be a market we would enter.

We are never going to satisfy the doubters on here and are always up there to pick fault at by people like you Ali but our customers are best placed to decide if they like our service. Its free to sign up and we have no contracts. Despite what you keep on trying to say on here. We have a very large customer base who like what we do. I will continue to do my best to keep improving what we do and indeed improving our standards whether it be in content writing, customer support or software. If more customers leave us than join us I will get the message that it is not what they want but quite simple right now that is not what we hear.

Most people respect that for a very, very small monthly fee we provide a domain name of the customers choice, a website with a CMS backend and marketing of their chosen local phrases. Again no upfront fee, no cost if their phrases do ranking on the first page week in, week out and they can leave any time if it isnt working for them with no notice period. I respect that our customers can make their own judgement if the service works for them.

Well that was a very interesting read of 15 pages and I can say hand on heart, I read every single comment.

What strikes me here is:-

Page 1 Google Rankings are worthless if the website they point you to looks terrible. As the ones I've seen created by LLU do!

This will not generate business but then LLU don't charge for generating business. They charge for Page 1 rankings. Completely pointless!

Although, LLU do say they offer a PRO design website (£299+). This is nothing but regular SEO work which you could have done anywhere, so nothing new, innovative, unique or cheap!

My take on this after reading all the pro's and con's is this:-

If you want the kudos of being on page 1 of Google for poor keywords then this is the service I would go would for.

If you want the kudos of being on page 1 of Google for relevant keywords, with a website that will generate enquiries AND business, then look for PROFESSIONAL SEO and Web Design.

Paying £30 a month just to appear on Page 1 of Google is like paying to have the looks of Kate Moss with the personality of Myra Hindley!

Fair play to Stuart and LLU though. They have devised a business model that no doubt generates a lot of customers and income. Purely based on the promise of getting Page 1 Google Rankings.

I read on UKBF earlier (not sure which topic, may have been this one). Will being Page 1 on Google generate business? I think we all have to agree that it depends on the quality of the website you see when you've clicked your Page 1 ranking to get there.

Ultimately, you should be paying for results. If being Page 1 is the result you want then you get what you paid for. IF, the result you want is to increase business, then you need high rankings AND a website that will deliver enquiries/business.

Comments made on this forum are mostly made by competitors who have never experienced the Local Link Up service. Although these commentators who post on here may understand that by keeping this thread going it will keep ranking high on Google, the average reader may not appreciate that. We have tried to post comments and positive responses but no matter what we say there is always some “expert” who will pick fault in a service of our size. Being one of the larger companies in this field it is something we have to tolerate although we don’t like it. We feel that our efforts and energies are best placed serving and responding directly to our customers because it is unlikely that our competitors who keep this forum thread alive are ever going to accept that what we do provides some benefit to our customers, but it does......

Local Link Up provides a service that is free to join and for that we register you with a domain name and build a promotional website at no cost. We also host that website for no cost and provide full email services on your domain name and indeed any other domain name you wish to transfer in to the service free of charge. There is absolutely nothing to pay upfront.

We charge our customers for SEO results based only on Google first page listings. Each phrase you choose for your package will be priced by our system and you will be charged a small weekly fee for each week it ranks on the first page of Google. Nothing else! If the phrase is there one week but not the next you won’t be charged. You won’t be charged for hits or impressions on indeed anything else. You won’t pay in advance; our billing is up to six weeks in arrears and won’t pay that bill if you are not happy with what you got for your money. You won’t be asked to make extra payments, sign a contract or commit in any way to any long term package. You can join our service, see if it works for you and stop the service if it doesn’t. Your expenditure will be very low and likely much lower than any other promotional service in the UK market. Local Link Up is the only Pay per Rank service.

Our package includes a small website that also allows you to blog, post opening times, get customer feedback and receive enquiries through a simple web interface. It is very easy to use and again there is no cost to use it. You also get to trade adverts on other members non-competing but local websites at no cost. This is built in to all Local Link Up packages and provides millions of free adverts each month. We are not suggesting this is the only investment you ever need make in your internet services and quite clearly if you invest more you get more.

We also offer one other service which is an upgrade to a full bespoke website which a portion of our customers choose to do once they see that our service has delivered front page results but there is no obligation to do so. Prices start from £299. Once you purchase a website you can then add unlimited pages through our CMS based system totally free.

We currently get around 200 new customers each week to Local Link Up and around 50 of our customers upgrade to the enhanced package. We have more than 20,000 businesses paying for the Local Link Up service.

We provide free technical and customer support and are always happy to answer our customers’ feedback directly either by email or telephone. We don’t have telephone queuing systems so it is easy to get through. If a customer has any feedback we respectfully request that they contact us so we can serve them best. You can be assured that everyone at Local Link Up is fiercely proud of what we do and will always do our best to meet a genuine customer’s needs.

For the casual observer on this forum please don’t read too much into the comments from competitors as they are just that, competitors. They are welcome to their opinion but they are not customers of Local Link Up and have never used the service. If our customers didn’t like what we did they wouldn’t stay with us. After all they have usually spent nothing to join our service and have no contract. We like it that way so it keeps us on our toes delivering a great service.

For the record Stuart, I am not a competitor.

Would you disagree with anything I have said?

As we have stated previously we have chosen to devote our resources to dealing with genuine customers and not spend our time defending criticism from our competitors or indeed anyone via this forum. It is inevitable with a service of our size that we will attract some people that don’t like what we do, even more so because we have introduced a charging structure that throws out a challenge to other companies operating in this sector. As usual I remind people that Comments made on this forum are mostly made by competitors who have never experienced the Local Link Up service.
Our competitors don’t like what we do. They are welcome to their opinion but they are not customers of Local Link Up and have never used the service. If our customers didn’t like what we did they wouldn’t stay with us. Thankfully our customers do stay with us.

Stuart,
You talk about results, but what you call results is completely different to what SEO’s call results. A result to an SEO isn’t about getting to No.1 for just any old keyword. It’s about getting No.1 for a keyword that brings good traffic and a website that converts.
Saying that the customers can pick and choose what keywords isn’t enough to bypass the issue. Most customers haven’t a clue what to choose and will pick words that will perform poorly (which is what your business model is all about). When this happens it give the SEO industry a bad name and makes all of our jobs offering genuine SEO services that much harder.
Drop the term SEO in your sales pitch i.e. “Introducing Local Link Up - the UK's only Pay Per Results (PPR) service for SEO” then attitudes may well be different.

Once again I will let real customers decide what they value in our service.

Saying over 200 customers join you every week is fine and dandy, but it's irrelevant when you can't compare it to the number of customers leaving. But then it's all marketing isn't it.

Real customers? Don't you think the comments that you have already had are from real customers?
I wait in anticipation for a sudden influx of local link up satisfied customers.
"BUT" in your defence as you are a "new" business and I guess most of your customers are yet to be aware of how successful you are to their business.

It reminds of the old cliche. "If something sounds to good to be true, it probably is".

Let's face it, this business model sells on the premise that they "will get you page 1 Google rankings for certain keywords on a no-win/no-fee basis"

The naive business owner is going to bite at that not knowing enough about it.

Scam is probably too strong a word to use, but they are definitely taking advantage of a basic lack of knowledge of it customers.
