Linux web server anyone? Surplus to requirements

Hi all,

I have a Linux dedicated server for rent if anyone's interested. It was part of an order that turned out to be fraudulent so now im selling it on a best offer basis. There's 6 months left on the agreement so if interested please make an offer for the 6 months (you can pay monthly). After the 6 months we can arrange a discounted rate if you wish to continue. This server would normally be £129 per month but obviously im not expecting this.

Its a Dell Power Edge R200 and its based in a state of the art data center in Nottingham.

2 x 160GB SATA HDD's
2GB RAM
Intel Dual Core Xeon 2.33GHZ
Hardware RAID
Remote Server Reboot
Network Connection - unlimited 10 Mbps Data Pipe
2 Free IP addresses
Server backup available @ £19.99

Hi Mate,

The problem you're going to have is that the server itself isn't that amazing, and the pipe isn't that good either.

A lot of datacenters will now offer you much more bandwidth/month, so a 10mbit pipe isn't that good nowadays.

Maxed out 24/7 for 30 days, you'd transfer something like 3.4TB (off the top of my head) on a 10mb line. That's not loads.

IP address prices are negligible. The RAM isn't loads.


If I were you, I'd either use it myself, or sell it outright.

Or, alternatively, sell the parts individually.

Thanks to the guys who have responded, but i simply don't need the server and as its rented from the data center I'm not able to sell it.

If anyone would like to make an offer i would be willing to consider as i still have it lurking around costing me money!

They dont do pro-rota refunds, 12 month contract

With the dell offers on at the mo, these are only £399 (albeit it in base spec) to buy, we just bought a r200 quad core with 4 mb ram and dual raided 250gbs for £600 odd quid. From Dell.

Would try and negotiate with data centre!
