...I wish I had a ruler on me!!! i think a little bigger than a compliment slip, but the same shape. like a normal envelope only 20% bigger

You'd be better off sticking to conventional sizes for print, otherwise you'll be paying for an area of print space that you're not using

Compliment size would be £127.80 Exc. (£160.16inc.)
A5 would be £169.53 exc (£209.2)

same spec as before

Thanks for those - unfortunately i cant quite see it working in A5 - dont know why, but all menus tend to be long and thin, and even if you had two columns there is something too fat about A5 portrait. strange?!

not at all it's called an A5 long that would be £114.11 ex...
(including VAT and delivery £144.08)

I can do these exact dimensions for you, will PM a quote shortly.

Regards

Damon

i think thats a given... but as you know the customer ends up paying for for space that is ultimately wasted... so if i'f you're not overly bothered about the size then a couple of MM here or there can make a big difference on the price of the job.

As for the rest of your post i just think you're trying to bait me,... and i'm not biting.

At no point did I say this was a litho job.

I said...suppose for the sake of argument consider it was, so the issue of whether to pick a printer with a press was even an issue - then the customer has to listen to both of your messages and decide

I am not trying to bait you at all....I am pointing out that negative selling has never and will never achieve a jot for you - and right now, you are losing the marketing game on points decisively.

Your competition has offered a benefit "fastest UK"
And right now you have offered nothing to counter that.

The only arguments you have come up with centre on the idea that it isnt always a good idea to have a press ...otherwise to slag off the route by which your competition decided to acquire the infrastructure you do not.

A serious piece of marketing advice.
From someone who spent a lot of his life studying and writing sales copy!!

You need to think out your USP and answer the question "why should I come to you not anyone else"

I dont get it.

The whole printing industry seems to LIKE fighting the war on price...there are some great USPs to be had....but other than "fastest uk" - I havent seen anyone use one on this thread -

You make a very good point admagic the problem is; that some brokers find it difficult to have a USP in the flyer printing game simply because they are dictated to by the people with the presses. I don't doubt some of them provide a fantastic service just like us but they are trading on someone elses abilities and standards..."if you want a job doing properly do it yourself" and in my experience and IMHO most Johnny Trade Printers do not take the flyer game seriously and don't treat the job with same skill and care that we (press owning flyer printers) do so even if the broker service, standards and prices are better than most they are still relying on someone else...an additional factor in any process (I have studied Lean Six Sigma systems and its basic ethos is reduce factors and steps in a process to perfect the process). Our "fastest in the UK" USP has taken us 13 years and massive investment in systems to enable us to claim this.

Sorry its taken me so long to post again but its just so busy at the moment with flyers and leaflets.

Oh and its worth mentioning that we are now about to order a new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD which will run at 18,000 sheets an hour this will again improve our turnaround times and increase capacity....a £650,000 investment in our USP!!!!!!

a £650,000 investment
Lol You must be so proud of all that gearing…

You are a funny pair, you seem completely clueless towards how economics works.

Take someone like Tesco…

Do they manufacture all the goods they sell? No.

Could they? Yes…

So why don’t they?...

Could it be that they don’t need to; surely it gives them a much broader scope of the goods they can sell, having many channels of supply or perhaps new technologies become available to them without having to invest in expensive infrastructure…

Do they pay the retail rate? No...

They pay a reduce rate because the supplier wants the business… I’m not going to bore you with the intricacies of supply and demand, and relative purchasing power... but feel free to look it up if will help.

Do their suppliers dictate to them… er...NO!

It is obvious that you two have some misguided views on world of business and I can understand why ‘ganging up’ on me makes you feel safer in numbers… but your posts have been accusatory and offensive.

It’s like you (admagic) have USP Tourettes… “hey you do need to know a da** thing about business as long as you have that USP”

What on earth has USP got to do with owning a press or not? For what it’s worth if we really felt that having “the fastest turnaround in the universe” was so important then we’d be doing it… it’s not hard to achieve but I just don’t get why it’s so important… most people have the ability to plan and don’t wake up and think… “Blimey better get my order in before 8am so that I can have my flyers for my event tomorrow”… I mean do club promoters even get up before 8am?

Regardless of your weak comments and petty baiting you can’t escape the fact that there is nothing about owning a press that makes someone a better supplier of print… and that’s fact!

So please… bait away… ;)
