I have notice a keyword domain has come on the market, its actually in an auction, there is no website I'm simply looking at the domain and if it would help my seo.

So is it worth buying a domain which is an exact match to my chosen keywords or am I better off concentrating on seo on these keywords on my current website?

Thanks

It's unlikely the a domain name now will help you in anyway when it comes to SEO. Thats not to say it's a negative as if it's a keyword or phase likely to be used by your target profile then it will help in other ways.

well the domain is a search term so I wan thinking that if I got the domain ranking in google then it would be easy for me to rank for that particular phrase with a redirect to my main website?

I have got many exact match domains. Some at still at the top of their game without any work since the updates.

I wouldn't buy one now to help SEO, but depending on you business it might be an easy to remember web address.

I say go for it fattony! Bottom line is you will have to do some SEO work anyway- so this domain just might give you the edge when it comes to which search result one decides to click.

Dare I ask how much the domain is roughly going for?...

£35 at the moment!

Under £100 and I'll buy it even if I put another website rather than link straight to my current website

Domain parking is such a nuisance! £35-£100 is not too bad tho- there is a company that has refused to sell me one for £600, they're insisting on £1000! ...and recently a guy I know had to pay £2300 for one! I hope yours goes well.

I did read a couple of months ago, google was trying to stamp this out but from my experience i have 5 websites all with keyword domains in. You will find that you will still have to do seo every month in order to get it to 1st page of google but it is easier than not having a keyword domain name to get a decent rank.
Hope this helps

... but it is easier than not having a keyword domain name to get a decent rank.

In our experience, and we have a fair few exact match domain websites out there, the advantage is still there but it is really minimal. When choosing a new name for a website, ask yourself: does this name work well in terms of memorability and branding potential?

A few months ago it was pretty easy to put up a flimsy 2 or 3 page site of stuffed keyword pages on an exact match domain and get on page one of google. Those days are gone. As said buy the name if it fits with your business but don't expect any favours from google. I'm not sure if an EMD has any negative affects on ranking but definately not any positives.
