Please can someone help me understand Swift payments.

We generally trade in the UK only, we had a customer wanting to pay with a debit card registered in Pakistan from an IP address in the US, we flagged this as a potential fraud and insisted they would have to pay by BACS due to the card being registered outside the UK.

They have come back and asked for our Swift account number.

So my question is - Is Swift for international payments and can it be withdrawn or are we safe to process this order?

    Thanks guys

BACS is UK only. If you are receiving a payment from Pakistan to your UK bank account, SWIFT can be used for international transfers. The sender in Pakistan would need your UK bank account details, including your bank's SWIFT code, which identifies bank and branch, etc.

In cases of fraud, unauthorised transactions, or serious disputes, there may be grounds for the client to challenge a payment but that is exceptional and should be subject to investigation and verification by the banks involved.

Yes, you need a SWIFT or IBAN (International Bank Account Number) for cross-border bank transfers.

No idea if they are reversible.
