Is email marketing an effective tool?

I'm waiting for the feedbacks of those who already tried this method of marketing.

Rather than just yes or no - the real answer is yes if you do it right, no if you don't.

You must have good data, you also need a good email campaign that will tell you how your emails are recieved, i.e how many are opened, then how many click through to your site and then this gives you the lead.

There are companies out ther that will give you a complete 'out of the box' solution which includes data for your market place, stats on how many opened and the lead for those that click through to your website.

Blind emails is a start but it's really not expensive to go for the above...

Yes,i am in that market, while i really do not know if that effective, because you said is quite perfect, most of the time,we have no time if there anybody have seen the E-mails and if they interest in that?
Maybe there is some effective, because if you just happen to the guy who is in the market for your products, that will be great opportunity.

Some time before,i heared a kind of saying is the big buyer do not want to search the customers all around the world and they already have the stable supplier and then no need to do that, but if they happen to see your e-mails about the sames products and then want to have a try,so that will be a good opportunity grasped by you,So it is saying, only you do,there will be a benefit ,on contrary ,all are vain.I think we just be best to be that,as if we earn the results,we need to no care so much, sometimes there is more about fortune.

Hi,

All of us are doing our business well and every day we are receiving lots of mails from various sources, did we read any one of them.. I think we just see them and deleted by select all. This is the end of email marketing:rolleyes:

Thanx for your answers :)

I espacially need the feedbacks of those who already used email marketing. Coz some people who posted their replies here are email marketing companies and they certainly write good things about this method of marketing.

We have clients of ours using it, we have automated email marketing sent out from our CMS etc.

Yes it works

Like anything else the more accurate your list, and the better the content, the more successful it is. Where the sending company is already trusted then it works very well indeed... Email marketing is just a delivery mechanism like any other the content / setup etc is what is important...

akirk, Mike W, I know that u are email marketing companies. As I'm looking for a good email marketing company I wonder what is the ratio of your campaigns?

I would like to know as well if you have your own email database that a client can use?

U are right Alasdair, but I know also that normally the emails sent through the email marketing go to spam boxes and it's not obvious if people read these emails...

We are not an email marketing company ;)

We write the software that allows our clients to send emails, e.g. Where their back-end business system allows their clients to set marketing interests and then their website auto-builds email marketing against those preferences...

Many of our clients also use constant contact / mail chimp against their own lists...

So, sorry, we can't help in that way...

If I agree with you that Email marketing works then my next question is that how long:|, you will send a email for a topic when it happend only then:mad:, however organic SEO will work for a long time:), and its too effective for a long time:p.
You can analyze the services by read some online articles and then decide which one is best for your business.

lol. I've never heard such rubbish.

So we don't read any of our emails? Better get our pencil and paper again! :D

If you want to have a serious debate, you'd achieve it far better if you didn't come out with silly statements.

As with all marketing...

a) if the headline ('subject') is interesting enough then the recipient might choose to read on (open)
b) If the subject is clear in what you're offering, and he's in the market, then the chances of opening it are increased even more.
c) If the headline within the ad (email) is grabbing, they'll read on. If it isn't they'll close it.
d) If the copy is good then their interest may be increased. And if the call to action is clear, they may actually react to it.

But... if it hits them at the wrong time, or they got out bed the wrong side that day, or they've got a lot on just now (so put it to one side) etc etc, then they may do none of the above.

And all that relates to email marketing targetting new business. Email marketing to past customers or subscribed individuals is different again and far more effective.

Now... want to tell us how great SEO is and how that'll never die? ;)

We don't hold data other than that of our clients. But we deal with all the leading data houses and can help you acquire the right data for you.

It all comes down to knowing what you're doing, Archil, both in copy and method. For many reasons you'll never escape some going into spam folders but if you do things in the correct way, you'll minimise it substantially ....unless you're selling viagra ;)

for certain companies I trust, and where I already have a relationship - or which are 'my types of goods' then I read them and will respond...

for junk - none!

yet I am a highly cynical person when it comes to marketing...

what this says is that if you get your target list right then you will get a response - send it out to people on the basis of not caring, but sending to millions means that some will buy is called spam ;)

so target email marketing does work and can work very well indeed.

Exactly, I want to hear this "target email marketing does work" but the main problem in this marketing is this we could not recognize the person to whom we need to send mail, also the data collection of email is really a very hard work, i know that lots of visitor subscrib the news letter on a website but when we start sending them then they simple un-subscribe, hence i got an experince that this markeing is not so effective as per our efforts.:|

If that's the case, then quite clearly the emails are not well written. Simple.

more so than with many other things - it is important that you test and get right the design / content / etc. - there is no fixed rule (speaking form observation, not from specific knowledge, we have one client who sends out two types of mails:

from constant contact - to the whole list, glossy / photographic / smart / etc.

automatically from the website - simple text email with links to news items...

the latter is more optimised (built individually to each of his client's preferences), but far less glossy - yet it gets far more responses...

There is a lot of work in getting it right...

sorry Archil - don't know ratios etc... or PPA question we just write code ;)

Ratio is impossible to answer. It's a finger in the air job without knowing everything that's involved. So many parameters to take into account.

PPA? What's that - pay per account? Checked here but couldn't find a likely reference http://www.acronymfinder.com/PPA.html ;)

...but if it is that sort of thing, not so sure you'l find any decent company that'll work on that basis. If you haven't got faith in your own product, why should they...?

no type of marketing will be effective if you dont do it right and communicate with the right clients/ prospects in the right way.
So asking is email marketing effective is impossible to answer without much more details.
.
Now if you ask , this is how I/we do email marketing can anyone suggest a more effective method, then maybe we can help else its just about opinions.

Email campaigns do work, although how well depends on the size of the marketing/client database. Statistics are about 100% of emails sent, just 4% will read them.

My company follows a basic email plan - its a standard letter, sent by email (no email outsourcing or templates), and where possible is addressed to the recipient as personal as possible. We recently sent 150 emails from a cold-list, and about 40 got read, while just 1 responded via email...

But there's been other times we sent out emails to 1000, and made 40 sales, so it depends on many factors eg: does the prospect know you eg: a current client? , did you catch them at a busy time, are they having a bad day etc etc.

I say it works, providing the list is large enough, and follow-up calls are made, although the 40 clients we got, we didn't make the follow-up calls!

Its about trust and getting that trust.

Mike, PPA means Pay Per Action. This is a revenue share based model. An advertiser pays to a publisher some % from the sales the publisher will generate on the advertiser's website.

So I wonder, if there are email marketing companies working on PPA model.

Not here, I'm afraid, and none that I'm aware of. Am sure you'll find someone though, probably in his bedroom somewhere. Unlikely to be any good but at least it won't cost, eh?

many mail sent are considered as the spam, but many people can't go to spam folder, so the mail marketing become smaller and smaller

Hi Archil,

Yes they work, not only do they help keep your brand awareness at the forefront but they increase sales. We have currently got open rates of between 60 - 65% (on our targeted lists) and gain around 1200% comeback on the cost of sending out each email.

One which we are just about to send can be found here..

If you want to know more info about our bespoke email template design then feel free to get in touch.

Kind regards
Karen

The quick answer here is yes email marketing does definitely work but like many of my fellow commentors have said it needs to be done correctly.

So you want to think about the following aspects in my opinion:

1. Where your going to get the data from and how much you are prepared to spend on it. You need to make sure it is good data and also that they have a good reputation for supplying quality data - remember bad data = bad results.

2. Are you going to download the software needed to manage such a campaign or are you going to sub it out to a company who does all the data, marketing and analytics for you?

3. The timing is crucial for some email marketing campaigns for example, an online watch comapny will want to be doing there big email marketing push around November so that people can get their orders in for Christmas - if they did the same campaign in January or February then the results would be much less convincing.

Hope this helps and good luck to you and your email marketing campaign!

Think you're smart swearing in a foreign language? You've just proven your self to be a fool.

I think calling someone 'son of a whore' shows you for exactly what you are!

Pity you're not brave enough to show your links and I see you have removed your email address so no-one can find your SEO company. Ah well, I looked at it when it was there, so I'll certainly remember you when you return under another guise, vijay shrivastava.

Email marketing is no different from any other form of marketing, the principles of success are always:

Using the right method to present the right product to the right people at the right price at the right time.

Not always easy to get the planets to align, but those principles are sound for any form of successful marketing.
