Banning all IE is a bit harsh though isn't it? I don't use IE8 but it's quite a good browser and quite a significant step up from version 7 and especially version 6

Nope IE 8 is terrible and not much better than 7 or 6 it does not go with convention and still causes programmers problems.

More people use firefox than any other browser so i wouldnt be getting rid of the majority of users i would be saving the last few who use the crap ones.

And thanks edmond Firefox is the way foward.

Yes it is. IE8 is much much better than IE6 and better than IE7.

What conventions are you talking about? Unlike IE6 and IE7 it has complete support for CSS 2.1

Admittedly it still falls short of other browsers in terms of SVG, DOM and, of course, XHTML but it is a better offering than either version 6 or 7.

As a developer I use Firefox, but I use Google Chrome were possible as it is just lightning quick.

If you've tried it then you'll know what I mean, if you haven't then I recommend you give it a go.

It can also vary extensively for YOUR website, depending on your target market.

For example websites which target older, typically less tech-savvy consumers will tend to have a higher uptake of IE (probably even IE6)

Bu the difference between IE and FF is huge at nearly 30%. IE8 and Firefox is much smaller,but only because most corporate installs havent progressed to IE8 yet.
