Hello everyone,

I am thinking of starting a Family Entertainment Center and wondering if anyone have experience about it .. i.e how much would it cost for start up?
I am currently working on the Business plan, but it looks like it would need a lot of finance!

Thanks,
Sam

If you mean a wacky warehouse type of operation then I have a client who has a similar thing. Setup costs were approx £500k.

Hi Dave - thanks for your reply

Its actually a Bowling Center with bar, restaurant, cafe, video games ..ect.
Is the 500K for only setting up, since there is a need for at least 6 month operation expenses

I have to admit its a big project, and the finance will be the biggest challenges. but still there is a market for it in my area.

How much of your own money are you prepraed to invest in this venture Sam. It is is less than £250,000 CASH - FORGET IT.

Have to agree with this, if you do not have a pocketful of spare cash then you are unlikely to be able to raise the rest for the amounts needed for a venture of this size.

...a market in your area, which part of Wales are you looking at? Have you tried Business inFocus, Venture Wales who have contacts with Assembly funding. You will find though you will have to match fund the project if the Assembly find its viable and will bring local employment to the area.

Hi Sam and others,

Bri- many thanks for the name drop, I work for Venture Wales in Swansea. A little slow on this thread - not sure if it's relevant anymore.

Bri is right to suggest that organisations like ourselves would be able to help you look into private and public funding. Of course there is no guarantee with either of these - and as Oldeagleeye pointed out, if you don't have anything to put in it, you won't get very far with either route.

Hope this is helpful. My number in the office is 01792 701199 if you need any further help.

No Problems Arek, yeah my mentor and old mate Phil Watkins in Cardiff usually sorts me out.
