I am working on a site where Organic SEO isn't really an option so it is going to have to be Social Media all of the way.

On twitter I am getting the name out there and getting into conversations but on Facebook I just can't seem to get more followers / fans.

I have created a page and post to it regularly but not being a facebook user I am really struggling.

At the minute I post things on the wall but that is about all the page has at the minute along with the logo / nice header.

Do any of you genuises have some ideas?

You can ask all your friends/network to like your facebook fan page, and they can ask in their network to like your facebok page and so on...... i am sure it will help to increase your facebook followers. Also you should connect your facebook account with twitter. Post interesting & fresh updates with proper headline and images.

Don't connect twitter and Facebook as they require two different style of posts.

Why do you need Likes? If you had 1,000 likes would that help your business or would you prefer 1,000 email addresses on a mailing list?

Think how much a like is worth to you and then you can start working out how much you can spend to get more.

Try taking out a Facebook ad to attract page likes. Add the page like button to your website - try it on the checkout complete page.

Just think carefully though if it is worth it. Probably me not getting it properly but we,be struggled to get past 100 Likes. It is cheaper for us to gain email subscribers.

Just need to improve more interaction don't post only related to your business but also focus to get interaction users with you Facebook pages. You can play some contest, games and even polling or voting for some current affairs. Interesting people will participate it through your page. :)

I would say be calm and be calculative while managing your facebook account..it requires lots of patience and mostly the great content. Regularly update your page with great information for the users. From this you will be automatically known by the users.
To get liked by the information you shared is far better then the manual request (Ask to like my page)
Join related groups and comment useful info on the post which are related to your niche..

Thanks very much.

I know it isn't about numbers else I could just go and buy 100000 followers from China who would never click. I just mean getting the people I want to like it so then I can get them my offers.

It is a schoolboy error but I haven't set up an email list yet but I think I am going to have to.

There's a few things you can do to make your social media worthwhile:

1. Add a blog with an RSS feed (wordpress) - submit 15-20 posts per month, must be part of your website

2. Add social media buttons to your blog

3. Tweet regularly - every 2 hours - and use hash tags (i.e. #webdesign)

4. Link to social media accounts and blog rss feed from your homepage

5. Link your tweets to a landing page on your website, and to one with a form on.

6. Use facebook to post interesting things related to your site.

Do these few things, and you will begin to see greater results. :) I have only been tweeting a few days and already have 41 followers.

Are them 41 followers worth all the effort though and are they "real" not just hunting for a follow back?

There's a lot of marketing companies, which are worthwhile. Am looking for 1,000 followers to begin with. As you comment on their tweets, and a dialogue begins, you increase your chances of generating leads.

You can target who you tweet to, using hashtags. So, for instance, say you are selling to fish mongers, use the hashtags they are using, and follow them. Who are their influencers? Follow and add to their convos.

Sooner or later, your efforts will bring you traffic. :)

I have already been "favourited" by one follower.

If you are trying to get people to like your Facebook page for your website design company then you will probably struggle. I have tried and found that its just not an area that is of much interest to the kind of people that use Facebook. The best thing is to get your friends to share your page, it may not get you many likers but a friend of a friend contacted me for a quote last week so its definitely work trying.

Not seen addmefast, may check it out but it just depends on what kind of likers/followers you get. I know some people that have purchased likes but all they got were thousands of foreign sounding names that would obviously never interact with you.

I did some facebook advertising this December, and was able to get about halve the people that visited the page as followers by targeting age groups and locations. However my conversion tracking showed no increase in actual sales for me so I stopped, and ended up going back to ad words.

I was very disappointed to find out that only about 15% of your followers get your page updates. The other 85% even though they subscribe do not, the only way to talk to all of your followers is to pay yet again, and the cost of communication with your followers actually exceeds the cost of new likes... something to keep in mind, though this might be fine for some people for me it leads to negative ROI.
