Improving communication with your customers

S

Suzanne Harrison

Hi everyone,

I am setting up a consultancy that aims to help SMEs and start-ups improve how they communicate with their customers.

I am currently designing the best way to offer this service, and would really appreciate feedback on my ideas.

If any members would mind spending a few moments filling out this survey, I'd love to hear your views.

The survey can be found here:
www dot surveymonkey.com/s/X5XYZJ9
(Sorry, I haven't been on the forum long enough to post a link yet!)

If you have any other questions or comments on it, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks so much for your help!
Suzanne

Suzanne, dear Suzanne, where did this concept come from? :|

Do you see a ready market for offering "consultancy services" for SME's to communicate with their customers?

Take it in pure sincerity from a very experienced Consultant that your concept needs refinement before it even begins, before you even do the survey. What you have not done is put yourself into the position of an SME owner and to look at your proposal from THEIR point of view and suddenly it will all make perfect sense.

I have completed your survey, but I think I agree with Kernowman. From your survey, it is a little difficult to understand what value you would bring to our business.

If your point is that you are saving us time, then in order for you to be able to write about my business and products, I would think I would need to spend quite a bit of time communicating them to you, and if I have to do that, then why wouldn't I just tell our clients this directly?

If I have a piece of writing and I really want to check that my message is clear, I normally just ask some of our clients to see whether they understand it as they are the ideal target audience and they do it for free. Failing that, I would post it on a forum like this and ask for feedback.

Either way, I really don't think I could justify paying to outsource this because if we cannot learn to communicate clearly and sell our own products, we are not going to stay in business for too long.

Thank you Webwam, that was exactly the sort of response I was prompting Suzanne for.

Business owners by and large are focussed on acquiring new business more than anything else, so if you have created a brand new sales strategy to earn them MILLIONS, your diary would be full for the next 100 years.

Having said that, I spend a lot of my time with SME's and large corporates too that a headlong rush towards new business growth is only a sensible plan of action when they taken the steps I show them how to stop it leaking away out of the "back door". No good being jubilant about thousands of pounds of new business sales, when you are losing TENS of thousands at the same time, resulting in a negative nett growth.
