Hi guys new user here hoping for some help. I have a tyre depot, Im currently looking at how viable it would be for me to import containers of new tyres from china to the UK.

I have made initial contact with some chinese companies that have offered me price on this. What im looking here is some information on what charges, import duties and licenses etc i would need before doing so.

Also if anyone is in the same field and are currently doing the same thing id love any helpful tips and hints they could give me.

Hello Marty,

suggest you have a read of the hugely informative section at the top of this Forum for those new to importing

.
Aren't tyres one of those consumer items that are drowning in E.U. Health and Safety red tape ?
Needing E.U. safety and compliance certification paperwork, correct polymer specifications, etc.

May be dodgy importing tyres of unknown quality, specifications.
What happens to you if there are accidents and these tyres are found on the cars ?

Yes and rightly so.

Importing a tyre that looks as if it is OK is a million miles from ensuring it has the correct specifications and certificates.

It's a dangerous product to import, if you do not follow the correct processes, especially when importing this product from China.
