Hi,

I'm a relatively new business and am looking to get a commission only sales rep to help me expand. I wish I could pay a basic rate but it is impossible at the moment. I don't know if this is the correct forum for this kind of post and if it is not I'm sorry. Just thought there might be plenty of sales people hanging around here!

Here is some more information on the role.

A self-employed sales representative is required to build and maintain an active customer-base.
You will be responsible for acquiring new customers within the TV, Film, Radio and Video-Game industries and negotiating contracts with said customers for the purposes of delivering a music production/composition service.
Candidates should have experience with and/or a considerable interest in media with specific expertise in the music business and music licensing. Experience and a willingness to conduct cold calling/e-mailing is also required although the candidate will also find other ways to attract clients.
Please be reminded that this is a COMMISSION ONLY role and therefore candidates will not be awarded a salary. Instead, a percentage of each client’s fee will be awarded. Candidates will also be responsible for their own tax arrangements. (UK candidates see Inland Revenue website for more information about becoming self-employed)

Firstly, you appear to be asking for quite a lot from a self-employed person.

You also need to seek guidance on the rules regarding self employment, as you are walking a very thin line here.

Finally, the ad says a lot about what you want and pretty much nothing about what you are offering. It will be a rare person who can do this well - and they will certainly be very keen to know what they get out of it!

Yep

Nick, you're going to find it difficult to find someone to fit that bill unless you're happy to pay a fairly hefty percentage of the generated sale.

What you're asking is someone else, in effect, to bankroll your business. We work on a commission basis in effect with our lead generation services but only ever after a short trial campaign at a fixed rate. I'm happy to take risks but they need to be somewhat calculated

Good luck in finding someone but I fear it maybe a long wait for the right person. Either that or you end up takg people on board who are willing to work commission only who may damage your brand

Hi Nick

There are company's out there who invest hundreds of thousands in a salesforce, telemarketers etc and still find it difficult to make a success expanding their company. You are proposing to do it all for a grand total of zero. Can't work, won't work

Hi Nick,

Have you tried and promote your products for yourself yet and if so how well has your product been received.

Cheers

OP,

The commission only position you have described and posted on here seems almost exactly the job you should be applying for yourself.

How many people on here have started a business and cannot sell themselves let alone their product/service and then apologetically start looking for a 'commission only' salesman? Hundreds, simply hundreds.

Ye Gods....

I think the point here is you looking for someone to do all the work for you.Find new clients, make sales and only be on a commission. Anyone like that can sell his/her own products/services. In a nutshell your either to lazy,to shy,or have no idea how to do the legwork yourself. Or even worst still you dont think there is a market,so why waste your time looking when you think someone out there (in this case on here) that will do all the work for you and you wont have to spend a copper coin

to a point I agree which what is said above. I think you could spend just as much time finding THAT ONE person with the skills + the desire to sell what you are offering.

I would consider very carefully a "profit share" arrangement. If you see what you are offering as a valuable service and your business works correctly to support someone to sell your products/services, then you MAY be able to find someone.

I think it would be easier to find somone in your specific industry as apposed to a general forum such as this. Passion for what you do speaks louder sometimes than money but if you combine the two you will have a powerful proposition.

This will take time and searching for the right person in the right place at the right time. - of course, with the right package.

I do telemarketing for various companies and for some I do commision only ,for the commision only I generate the leads for a %.
For example I wud for you set you up with over the phone appiontments for you to negotiate contracts etc and you would pay me per appiontment.

It is not in my nature to slander a person or its business but what you are asking is for someone to make calls, email, network etc and then to negotiate for your business. You really need to be paying a salary to expect someone to run your business for you.

What is the cost of your product /what is the commision for the sales rep ?
How long on average does it take for you as the owner to get yourself new business?
