I have a plan me lord

As many will know I run a telemarketing company.

Many times a day I get calls regarding our services from startups to SME's that do not have the budget to work with us.

I currently pass these on to other smaller firms who may be able to help, and this will continue, but for those who can really not afford this service I was considering starting a telemarketing recruitment company, they would be trained to EB Marketing standards, not just relying on there previous employment as a reason to employ them, the will work from home therefore cutting the need to have them inhouse, and many SME's don't have an office anyway so it suits all. And the costs will be lower than a telemarketing company.

Your thoughts on the idea?

i do like this in theory

i have to say i was in the bracket of someone who could not afford to work with a telemarketing company last year. i was looking for lead generation and appointment making but the up front costs involved were more than the budget would allow

as a way around the problem i ran a recruitment campaign for telesales to work from home. i figured it would be a good opportunity for people with telesales experience to work flexible hours to accomodate family commitments eg working while kids at school etc

i have to say this approach was the biggest loss making project of 2005. motivating staff to work from home was near impossible. when i calculated how much it cost in wages, training, my time away from clients, advertising etc it ran in thousands!! overall i probably lost £10,000 over 3 months

hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it!!! :cry:

so back to the point - if you have a way of bridging the gap between no telesales and using a telesales company then go for it. but to use my experience BE CAREFUL!!

I'd be interested. I know that EB's services will no doubt bring me enough business to cover the cost, but cant pay up the fees.

This idea sounds good, or if you can risk it a pay on results service!

I would definately appoint someone for this. i know the product will sell but like claire the budget does not allow a large up front fee

If I sold one painting at £300 it would probably cover the time it took to get the appointment!

You may be able to get a 'paid per appointment' fee however you have to realise that there is always a cost plus some profit margin that would have to be covered so your cost per appointment would be higher than say a cost per hour to cover.

If it was done on a results basis i would gues that the cost would be astronomical when considering that you would be moving all the risk onto the telemarketer.

So in all there is a good response to this idea.

I have made inroads into the telemarketer situation as I do have a pool I can get them from, the training will be easy, and by the looks of it my first clients may come from the UKBF.

One question. The telemarketer works from home once trained....who pays his/hers phone bill??
Will you cover the cost of this in wages?
Will they actually make the calls?
How will you check?

Just a couple of questions i had, you may have already thought of these. Otherwise seems a good idea.

1. The phone bill is covered
2. The people we take on, any I already know are trusted people, many are of any age where they dont fly from job to job, we check results at the end of each day and we know what to expect, if we are not getting the desired amount of calls done we will replace that person.

I am not sure you want to diversify to much away from what you know."recruit" some free lancers, that you send business to, and take a slice off the top...IE when the customer cannot afford you. They would be self employed, but trained by you. Have a section on you website that advertises the fact you take on these individuals and train them. Say you need them in different regions. They can then meet with the clients if need to discuss objectives. You send the business to the local freelancer.


You might even be able to sell a training course in telemarketing???
I know a lot of sales people who have to do prospecting of previous customers are terrible at it...( I include my self in this catagory!!) they might or their company might also pay to have them trained.

If you sold this aswell, you could then put on your website that the freelancers, if accepted for training receive X amount of training for free??/

Do they send them back when they reach a certain level and then want a "higher level" of telemarketing?

If they don't then I think I would go ahead with your plan and put it on your main website so when they want a higer level of telemarketing they won't have any trouble finding it :wink:

Yes.
Act as a middle man. An introducer. Get the freelancers to join your network. You kep the customers, so that if they grow to a size where you can do work for them, you have their details.

Although if you could outline the recruitment bit a bit more it would help.

Who would you recruit for etc? Yourself, other telemarketing agencies?

I think that is the way to go, it cuts out all the legalities of a recruitment company, all i would need is an NDA with the telemarketer and an agreement with the client, and if the client wants to take the telemarketer for good i will charge a fee, large enough to warrant losing that person, but a one of fee it would be.

However. I spent 3 years in the motor trade, and hated every out bound cold call i made!

I travelled the world last year, and whilst in sydney lasted a grand total of 3 DAYS, 2 of which were training working for www.customcall.com.au in sydney selling life insurance for one of Australia's largest banks Westpac.

Never ever again: EVER!!!

But this is your business we are talking about, surely if you are going to have any enthuasiasm for anything it is your own business, that gives you the edge, passion is key my friend.

I'm sure its just a case of saying the wrong thing over the phone or not putting it simply enough.
Without talking to you any further I will take a look at your website - justcarsonline and come up with a decent script just to show you what it should look and sound like.
