How to use facebook likes!!

I read on a thread about facebook likes, then read the article by the bbc about the same subject which then diverted to facebook PPC.
The two should not be mixed up.
Facebook likes should be obtained by genuine accounts but people do buy fake one - Why?
The answer works simple if you consider that this is "social media" named so because users are socialising.
Now think about your own actions and imagine seeing two people standing there peering through a window of a shop and then a massive crowd out side another shop. Curiosity makes you want to see what the crowd are looking at.
Fake like help get the ball rolling.
Another analogy would be the dance floor in a night club, its stays empty till a few are on it then every one piles on.
Use facebook likes to attract others

One thing to bear in mind, that I only discovered the other day, is that Likes on Facebook are only counted from individuals' profiles and not from those of company pages. So although our Facebook company page has been Liked by a fair few people, it has another set of people who Like us but just don't count!

A growing number of Facebook likes is important to attract initial attention to your brand, but remember, likes should not be the only metric you're tracking. Once your brand has a decent fan base you should be looking for a return on your investment, so start measuring metrics like engagement, use of offers/coupons or daily unique visits.

Hey

i have a question on the likes - do you really think the "like" is powerful for the page? i mean, some pages get likes and their traffic isn't changing so much . because there are times in which the potentional costumer only do like but not that interesting in the fan page/business page.

the like isn't target point in all cases, and sometimes can be un-useful, dont you think?

In my opinion people visiting a brand page may only care about how many likes a page has initially, if they see it's a popular page they may be motivated to 'like' it. However if a page is getting a lot of likes but it's traffic isn't growing, posts aren't getting many comments, likes or shares, then something is wrong.

As a page owner I'd say its more important to focus on building a community by creating and sharing interesting content, rather than solely focussing on getting more likes.

Hi Christine - I think you are refering to facebook "comment likes".
To gain these you drop a URL in a post and someone likes it.

@IzzoNet - Think of mass email drop. Everyone who likes your page see's what ever you post. The more people who see it, the higher chance that they will share and increase your likes.
Chances are they liked you because they used your service - you could in effect induce repeat business.

According to me the "likes" concept is not really appropriate for a business account. It is a bit of fun between friends on a personal account .

You dont understand it then. If for example you made a statement "We are launching widget X" and you had 90,000 likes then you could assume its a favourable decision.
Call it cheap market research of you captive demographic.

Likes count for a lot. Its a vote for that particular piece of content. more likes means more viral a content has gotten. search engines will factor that in their rankings.

I don't think it's important to get fake like if nobody ever talk on your Facebook (at least, not if your goal is to get like from real people). People doesn't like a Facebook page because the page has a lot of like, they like it because they like the business and/or they want to discuss with it.

Since this kicked in only circa 10% of your fans see your posts unless you use the promote tool (which costs). This is Facebook's biggest error since inception IMO and totally unethical! I feel really sorry for small businesses, bands and other arts that have grafted to get a fanbase.

You business wants as many followers as possible on its Facebook page to maximize the audience for your Facebook posts. The benefits from gaining followers are often worth the cost of offering customers an incentive to like your page. If you have created a special offer or sales code for your Facebook fans, you need a way to use Facebook to send it to them exclusively. One way is to design a new tab for your Faceook page whose content varies depending on whether the viewer has liked your page.

The facebook likes through real and genuine user interface values a lot , a page with 1000 likes with no visitors for that page is useless where as the page with few likes with more people engaged in the discussion values a lot.
