How to stop spammers faxing...

We never sign up for anything to receive rubbish by fax. We can't just refuse a fax because we have suppliers, manufacturers, customers faxing us all sorts of information which is ok.

These other companies, car leasing companies, debt collection agencies, accountants etc are very F**KING annoying.

I think I should ring them at least 3 times a day to advertise our products and services.

What do you guys think?
How can we stop companies faxing us there stupid advertisments?

Caller ID and block there numbers???

We use caller id and have a white list and a black list, if you are on our black list the phone doesn't even ring, could this done with faxes??

just wondering what sort of marketing you do, and what would happen if every compnay blocked, fax and t.n. ...I know what your saying, but my thoughts are that is a really competitive world we live in, all companies have to sell to survive. dont get me wrong I dont use faxes for marketing, but I need to advertise to sell therefore I am of the optinion tit for tat

But why would you randomly open a book and pick businesses out to target??? If you do that I think you have to have a second look at your marketing strategy.

So, if you're a sole trader and these people are in the UK, report them.

Otherwise, join the FPS ... and then report them next time.

Thank you all for your help, we will register for both TPS and FPS. Hopefully they won't and make us more money without selling a product.

Only way is with the FPS then report anyone who does fax you. Then again to date no one has had a fine imposed on them....

We have to wait 28 days before we report them, only incidents after 28 days will be considered.

They receive a warning before they issue a fine.

Will the TPS and FPS affect mail and calls we receive from suppliers?

All there preference services are simply a database. Companies are basically supposed to run any cold calling data etc that they create/ buy against the database to remove anyone in the opt out scheme.

Being on the scheme would stop any cold calling and some luke warm calling from more cautious companies.

Companies do not run their existing client list against the database as they are entitled to contact them about their existing services etc.

With both the services it is up to you to report breaches and there is no auto monitoring.


The worst case on your existing suppliers is that they wont contact you with special offers/ unsolicited new deals (contract renegotiation would be allowable) if they are at the more cautious end of the scale. Naturally new suppliers wouldnt be able to contact you by phone/ fax at all until you have contacted them and asked them to do something/ given a legitimate reason for a follow up call.

Hi, today's Fax services allow you to deal with spammers, like we do in emails. For example, Axiatel with Fax to Email service, one could configure their faxing interface to block the spammers, blacklist senders of fax...hope this will help to deal with unwanted faxes.

Back in the days when spam faxes were sent physically from an actual fax machine which could also receive faxes I used to fax them back with a continuous loop of black paper. I don't think that their ink lasted very long

We use our fax machine for outgoing faxes only so we unplug it when not in use and it has never had any ink in it either.

I bet there aren't a lot of fax machines in use anymore so I guess the ones that do exist get more junk than ever.

Send a fax back to them with the following on :

Please do not spam our fax with Commercial messages. If you do spam us with a commercial message promoting your product, you are agreeing to pay us £10,000 for that message to be printed on our paper and will pay the invoice of that amount.

A pity that isn't the case nowadays as that is an ingenius way of getting your own back!!
