Hi

I own the following website boxers-and-briefs .net

I need help/guidance on how to increase traffic?

we usually get around 300 visitors a day but this has not changed over the last 3 years if anything its getting less as there is more and more competition. Ideally i would like to double this without paying out large amounts of money

The main areas that we advertise in are price comparison stores, and pay per click with google, yahoo and microsoft.

In the organic listings we fail to appear anywhere near the top not even the first 3 pages unless the customer types in exactly what our product is called.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Russell

You have no backlinks. Until you sort that problem, you are only going to see your traffic get worse and worse as you are over taken by more aggressive competitors. I'm surprised you're even getting 300 a day to be honest.

Tell a Friend, rewards.
Competitions.
Even more price comparison websites.
Affiliate Links
Google Adwords
Directories
----------

The best method is providing a good service so people use your website again, and recommend others. With each order include a complements slip and ask them to recommend someone.

Where to start............

You do have some backlinks but to be honest the quality of some is questionable http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...wm=i&bwmf=u&bwms=p&fr=yfp-t-702&fr2=seo-rd-se

Your SEO data onsite is falling down in many areas for example

Site Title (Not SEO optimised and not at all compelling in anyway)
Site Description (Again not very compelling and is all about brands)
No H1, H2 Tags only H3 and they are the ones on the left hand side navigation which seems very non SEO'd
The text on-page is not compelling or engaging in any way apart from "No registering, no passwords, just choose & buy" and even that needs re-wording so that it is a lot more effective.
The design and images are ok but the text throughout the site really does need an overhaul across most pages.
There are no decent calls to action.
The site domain has hyphens (is there any reason for this)

419 pages indexed in Yahoo on first look is not bad but could improve as the site is bigger. From what I can see if a number of these were looked at and changes implemented you would probably find yourselves converting more from your existing traffic and also generating more traffic that would also convert.

In terms of cost it does not need to cost majorly as long as you look for the right type of company. In fact some work on commision as well :)

You could also see the adwords cost going down rather than up meaning a good return without the sales generated (even more) over a period of time.

SEO should be looked at as an investment not a cost.

If you want to chat feel free to PM me your details and I will get in touch. Failing that there are some great SEO's on here that can offer sound advice and great prices although I believe some are at capacity at the minute.

Don't use any SEO company that guarantees any top positions for ridiculous prices per month as they dont work.

Google needs steady. well thought out, planned, researched and well executed campaigns that work or you might as well pump the money into your pubs amusement machine (you will stand a better chance of making your money back)

I hope this helps

Dave

Keep building your backlinks... Don't try to build thousands of links within a short time... You might get blacklisted... Attend forums and promote your product to everyone instead of goin for high profile ads... Publish articles... Write related content about your product... Hope you know ezine... It has double advantage.. You can build high pr backlink as well as Market your website with good article... Good luck

I used to do the following to gain traffic:

* Write articles on your topic (your site's topic) and submit to article submission sites
* Join to Social Bookmarking Sites and submit your site
* Write a Press Release about your product/services and submit to Free PR Submission sites
* Register and join forums with the same topic/niche

But that doesn't stop there, you should work it out. After 4 to 6 weeks, you would notice that you'll get higher traffic and at the same time you'll gain link popularity.

I write content for sites like yours and good content always helps to bring visitors to the site. You could make your product descriptions more interesting and provide category descriptions like here http://www.prezziesplus.co.uk/gadgets.html where each category is backed up with descriptions that utilise all the keywords and phrases.

I also maintain a facebook account for the same site www.facebook.com/PrezziesPlus which is in its early days but has already increased traffic to the site.

The first thing that you should do is get yourself a Google Shopping/Product feed - this will definitely increase visits and sales.

Content, title tags and linking (directories/social seeding/articles/PR etc. etc.) are the three main elements for your search - there are literally 100's of other tweaks and changes that can be made from an SEO perspective, but it will be those that will really start to push you on.

The only concern I would have then would be conversion, as your site is a little busy (i.e. the brand image box on the home page) and you are not the cheapest (some selling the same products for 1/4 to 1/2 the price you are)

As many backlinks you have that many visitors you will have. But the question is how to make backlinks for your sites. Here are some examples:
Either hire a seo company for you your backlink increasing OR..
do directory submission for your sites.
Do social media optimization.
Do article submission.
Do pr submission.
Do comments on other blogs.
Make your own blogs and post relevant articles on your blog.
Do search engine submission.
Make facebook fan page and promote it.
Promote your site on facebook, twitter, myspace, digg, delicious, youtube, and more.
Submit pictures and videos in some good sites like flickr.
and many more.
search for more in google and you will find many more things to do.
Thanks...:)

hi

to begin with you need a better website have a look at Mystros website you can find his post in the middle of this thread

http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=190324&page=3

investing in a website like that will solve 50% of your problems

simply because even if you had 10 000 visitors a day not many would buy from a website which looks out dated

websites have a big impact on e-commerce you need something up to date

and by better website it doesnt have to be a new website

you just need a good designer to tweak it up to date as the underlying platform seems fine

Build a network of sites that you can post regular content on

Use web2 sites

Hit social media

write articles

make sure to go for both real visitors and links so you are being as efficient as possible.

Getting traffic is fairly simple once you start writing good quality content
