Agree, if it's just an information page then there is no return so irrelevant if you get any views or not.

If it is a lead generator or converting page then you should expect to pay to market the page.

People have got into the incorrect frame of mind that just because the internet is a free resource the promotion of those resources should also be free and that t'aint so.

Maslow eh, Physiological, Safety, Love, Esteem and Self Realization - changed from Self Actualization a few years back, but to do with achievement motivation beyond the first basic 4 needs eg: working towards an MBE, Directorship etc etc.

Oh yeah, articles - er, if you must waste time with this drivel, then put them on your own site, so that you benefit from the work. Personally, there's superior things you could be doing with your time, than writing rehashed versions of stuff many people know about anyway.

once indexed people will find it......

They might find it, but doesn't mean any sales. The web is full of people that think all they need do is wack up a site and wait for the money.

You still got to sell the thing, big-time..... but I know what you mean.

Build it and they will come only works to a point, after that for most sites is all sporadic sales anyway, bcos they don't have the means to drive enough traffic to convert. Its sad, but true, I mean how many businesses go bust every year -

More businesses go bust in UK
THE NUMBER of businesses going bust in the UK rose by more than 2,000 last year

2000 is quite a lot.

Yeah bang on. Businesses go bust because they all rely on article marketing. Good point.

Well, they go bust bcos they do stupid things, and if they believe that article marketing is that amazing, then maybe they deserve to go bust.

In 1999 maybe :D that article is ooollldddddd

Exactly, just shows how crap and out of date the info is that the SERPS provide these days doesn't it :D

But no, you're bang on, its just these days things are far far worse because this is the biggest recession ever, so that amount of 2000 a year, is more like 8000 going bust.

Yeah, sounds like article marketing will save the day

Not exactly - it depends on what you searched for :) If you searched for firms going bust in 1999 then it delivered obviously. So again, you rank for terms you want to rank not for general things

Recessions are good - they weed out the ones that didnt want to change/adapt/diversify. There are far more millionaires born as we come out of recession than any period of the economic cycle...its just survival of the fit......

If you searched for firms going bust in 1999

Well I didn't search by date, but should have given me the most recent stats like 2010 or there-abouts??? No, okay :(

So much for the Google image of providing whats most relevant.... :(:(

Recessions are good

huh? firms going bust, unemployment at 4 million - you're having a laugh right.... sorry, I see nothing good about it.

Oh, you mean this somehow forces businesses to be competitive, yeah, I agree, but they got to survive first. The recession wasn't invented as a fun game you know, this is awful stuff with people not being able to compete as its not a level playing field anymore, and cannot be about who simpy fights or adapts or whatever, its deeper than that.

Many businesses don't have thousands of pounds they can play with nor that unique idea where the media jumps all over it. But without either, many are going bust as they can't compete.

I think this has gone a little off-topic here for the OP and actually I feel he's come into a little slack from you Eventdomain which is necessary - They never said this was their ONLY form of marketing, if it was then maybe your arguments were valid. He/She asked a specific question about an article.

OP - Other than writing the article and posting it, (although I can't seem to see the link) what else (if anything) have you done to promote it?

To be honest, I'm not really sure where to start. I'm very new at this. I've tried to use lots of keywords on the article that should be searched for on google, but obviously I'm never going to get onto page 1. I just need some views so that I can make some money from publishing ads. Then I can start to think about doing some paid advertising.
