How to create 3D card PSDs?

Currently in the middle of learning a craft in Graphic Design.

Using Photoshop for other than editing images and reworking them is all I know.

I'm currently working on some Florist cards and my client would like them to be laid out on 3D cards to showcase what they look like.

My boss has tasked me with learning this process. I've searched the web for help. Some things have helped, but not everything.

But, my problem is not having access to the PSD templates for the 3D layouts

Is there a way around this?

Also, anything on the topic of creating 3D images for business cards, regular greetings cards etc... would help.

But you really need the original PSD so you can access the layers.

However...

If you want to create 3D images illustrator is a far better tool.

Sounds like you need a mock-up.

If you have artwork images of the cards (i.e. just a flat version of the design) you can work around not having the original PSD. You simply open up the mock-up PSD, then open the Smart Object, paste your image in, save, and the mock-up PSD will update with your design.

As what @Paul Murray says, mock ups are the easiest way to quickly show a design.

But for what you're trying to do, I'd look for stock imagery (I like bigstockphoto.com) where the image shows the cards. You can then simply use the transform tools in Photoshop to overlay your design. If you use "smart layers" you can easily swap new designs into the stock image in a few seconds.
This is essentially how the mock up files are made, perhaps the ones you buy are well intergrated, ie shadows that match, gradients, etc.

Like I said, very new to this so I wasn't aware they were called mockups! So, I apologise If I'd written it in a way that was vague or wrong! I've learnt something new.

I definitely wanted to understand how to lay a flat image on top of a 3D mockup to give the illusion of it being a card.

I'll try my best with the knowledge and sources you've given me! It's greatly appreciated!
