Well first of all get seo work done for your online shop it would bring great traffic to your business. secondly if you have capital, outsource your lead generation process.
Outsourcing lead generation process is very cost effective and you get more than what you invest in it.
trust me. Start looking for a good and reliable lead generation company who can bring great profit to you by providing you quality leads.

There are two separate points you need to look at here, Tracy - SEO and social interactions.

Have a dig around the forums (and the internet as a whole), as there are plenty of resources available for you to learn from for free and then pop back with some specific questions :)

There's so much to consider, that although I'd love to just sit here and say 'Right, all you need to do is develop a business blog, write fresh content regularly and interact with your prospects on Twitter', I'd only be touching the tip of the iceberg and no doubt end up swamping you with information!

Maybe you could start by telling us what you're doing at the moment?

Go for some SEO keywords and rank for those at some level. But you need a website that invites the business in, where businesses in your sector can sign-up, use your service in some way, then you can give them an introductory taster/free limited offer, and sell later on based on delivery.

These days social media is a great source to attract more customers. Promote your products over Facebook, twitter, stumble upon, and other social media websites. You will get amplified traffic to your website.

I like you idea as i'm going to open an online shop. It's really difficult do sell goods to somebody out there, especially in such a hard competitive business envirenment. Some told me that using social networks is a good idea to promote online business. Well, it sound reasonable to a large extent, but it's not easy at all. I think we should learn some other successful examples, reading books about that, etc.

The OP was clocked, given a tick-off and now its time-out and I'm clocking off.

Doesn't time fly when your winding up to something, although on the face of it, the numbers of clock jokes is fine.

Duncan Bannatyne says there is no point having a website unless you're on the first page of Google.

Is this true?

If it is, as much as I respect Duncan Bannaytne, I don't agree with this statement, for the simple fact you can't be on the first page of Google for everything you need to be or should be.

You've got a website and you're focusing on a dozen keywords, which you rank on the first page for. But going by this statement, as you're not ranking for other suitable keywords, you shouldn't have a website.

Everyone tries and fails to rank for the big keywords, and only 10 spots on page one of Google, so perhaps thats what he means.

Has he made an investment into a web based business yet?

Just shows you that even successful entrepreneurs don;t know what they are talking about at times (if he actually said this).

Anyone have a link to it?

Can you give a link to your site? Clocks are interesting items, and I think any marketing involving them would dabble a bit into the concept of time. How you'll make that work is entirely up to you though.

Yes, it was either in '43 mistakes businesses make' or 'wake up and change your life'.

I know nothing about web marketing or websites so cannot comment personally so I am interested to hear everyone's opinion.

I agree, he is fallible just like everyone else.

And yes he wrote it in either '43 mistakes businesses make' or 'wake up and change your life'.

Tracy,

start a blog. Tell us interesting and enticing things about clocks.

Start a social media presence - get people invited, and post up news of your new blog posts and perhaps your offers on there.

Build a solid online presence - do some SEO, and bring the traffic in.

Before undertaking any marketing activities think about your goals. You shouldn't start a path without not knowing where are you going.

When you have thought about where do you want your business to be, start considering who is your target audience. You don't sell watches for all population, so market it in the way your target market would like to see it.

Having considered strategic steps it's then will be time for tactics. Take into consideration that most of the markets (audience) has a presence and participation online. So your duty is to be where your market is.

At Coretium Media we work with small start-up businesses so you don't have to worry about the price as we understand how hard the first steps are. Our services include web design & developemt and various marketing activities.

Social media presence is necessary, create accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest; start a blog; submit a press release to PR websites; publish on review websites; use SEO optimization. To advertise your products you can partner with photographers and stylists. You may separate clocks by collections - vintage, casual, classic etc. Add lots of images and video to your website. Creating a mobile app with similar structure and features like itunes.apple.com/us/app/amazing-ibiza-lite/id491297003?mt=8 is a good opportunity to reach your customers on the go.

SEO is probably key. First things first, you need to optimize your pages (metatags and titles the most important). Second is back links on other sites, this tells Google that basically other websites think your website is good for whatever you are selling.

Linked to SEO these days is social networks (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn). Google has updated and those ranking highly on Google usually have a good social presence.

Get a Facebook Page and get a Twitter account and give it time. Facebook ads are cheap as well, and it's a great way to target your audience.

Good luck :)

Hi Tracy. I'm new here too! Just started doing some marketing for a small software business.

I'd advise taking a little step back (take deep breaths etc!!) Firstly think about what you want to achieve (be specific, numbers of sales, when etc). Then think about who your potential customers are before you decide what individual tools you are going to use to reach them.

I was going to include a link to my blog article about this but I just found out I can't post links until I've been here a bit longer! Do send me a personal message if you'd like more info and good luck! :)

These days social media marketing is a nice way to attract people towards your website. But the point is that you should have nice content and offers on your website to hold that traffic at your website. A nice website can convert that traffic into the business.

My best suggestion is to go for high rank directories, ad posting sites and social networking site for huge traffic to your site. Remember to put as much accurate information as you can on those social networking sites, directories and ad posting site. Try to get in touch with customers through social networks regularly by updating business pages quite frequently.

This question has to be more specific for better answers. There are many ways to bring in more customers. Popular online methods like SEO and SMM is bound to bring more traffic to a website. This is a must for any business that operates via a website. Offline methods are plenty too. Dropping flyers; sponsoring local events; local advertising are some of them.

SEO is probably your best bet.

We have hired an SEO team and we are now ranking for memorial book.

We have seen a huge increase in unique visitors and sales as a result.

Don't forget regular media such as print or even local radio. Not everyone automatically searches online. Some people still turn to yellow pages. It all helps to signpost to your online presence!

First, an interesting or attractive logo is very important, customer want to click your shop to view when they see it.

maybe all of the clock sellers get the product nearly the name place, but how can you promote yours to customers, you need to stress your service. It will give them a good impression.
