How Many Hours Per Week Do You Work?

I got an interesting email today saying that the average small business owner works between 40-50 hours per week and takes 10 days holiday per year?

Last year I took 3 days off and probably worked on average 50-60 per week. How does this compare with other people?

pretty similar i'd say, it's just so easy to take stuff home. and even whe your not working your either networking or talking work.

but in the end its worth it it i guess because it's your own

I work 7am to 7pm mon-fri and a few hours over the weekend (I wont count getting the laptop out when I get home at 7pm to analyse everything, so I guess I am doing: 60 - 70 hours.

Tending to work an average 5.30am to 7pm M-F... weekends are a bit more scattered but usually 5.30am to noon both days.

What can I say? I'm a morning person, and I do have some other business interests.

As for holidays - I'm not one that needs breaks as such so usually it's when the other half is keen for a get away or invited to something. Maybe a week a year else the occassional weekend... very random though.

It fluctuates but I average around 25hrs a week. You guys work too hard

I aim to work 60 hours over 5 1/2 days. I take tuesdays to be with my partner and half of sunday to be with family. If I take extra days off for any reason, I spread the hours out over the rest of the week so I can make it up...

I don't pay myself for that many hours though!

I work about a 12/14 hour day practically everyday and then when I'm not working I'm reading a book, that is always a business book, then when i watch a bit of telly i hardly ever keep up with what I'm watch cos I'm always thinking about work, then i do more work til 3am then go to bed, generally have an hours thinking about work until i fall asleep.

I love it!!!!

Am going on holiday in October though, now wheres the laptop

I seem to take it easy compared to you Iain! I know what you mean about taking the laptop on holiday. I did last year but this year I didnt, just called in every day - to be honest I thought that the place would fall apart without me. It never, not even close

Hi Tabbie, It's funny cos i don't see it as work, i love working on the website, i do that mainly at night after midnight cos the Internet speed is quicker. When we have stressful moments i go and walk the dog or go for a run.
I suppose selling holidays is quite a nice industry, rather than selling coathangers as an example.

I am eager to learn and improve so see that as relaxing, having said that i do find it hard to unwind or relax, mainly i don't care about anything apart from work. Sometime someone will be having a nice civilized conversation with me and my mind will wander off and start thinking about work, so this is something i should work on and change.

Probably about 30 hours a week, but that's spread out over 7 days - an hour or 2 in the morning, then again late afternoon. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Thankfully it doesn't feel like work either.

I do between 10-16 hours per day and i dont even notice it most of the time.
When im at home and still working on stuff it just feels like i would be on the internet doing the same sort of stuff anyway if it was my business or a hobby i had.
