I'm looking at various options for promoting UKBF across different demographic of business owners, so would appreciate knowing....

Where do you get your business news from?
For example how do you keep on top of what is happening in the world of business, legislation, taxes, etc.
I'm more interested in general business news rather than industry specific journals, but do share if there is a specialist publication or outlet that is important.

BBC usually. Doesn’t really affect me in what I do so not too fussed about much more than the headlines.

    Interesting no papers yet .

I also use the BBC, which is interesting considering how politically aligned it is deemed to be. I also refer to the FT, The Independent and Twitter along with a splash of headlines from Apple News.
I also have my board's Chairman who I'm sure reads every single news outlet in existence and sends me links to articles of relevance to our industry, as I'm sure he does to other companies he's the Chairman of.

Due to the nature of what I do I have news feeds (via twitter) being fed down the side of my screen which include some of the following, I also listen to LBC from 7.00 am to 9.00am for general overview whilst reading reports.

Twitter being the main conduit general feeds include:
    Bloomberg Markets
    Bloomberg Business
    Bloomberg Economics
    CNBC
    CNBC Now
    CNN
    CNN Business
    Reuters General
    Reuters Business
    Reuters Breaking News
    NBC
    BBC News*
    BBC Breaking News*

    * The worst of the above for up to date news is the BBC

    Some of the more specific:
    Daily FX Team Live
    City AM
    Forex Live
    Trading Floor Audio
    Live Squawk

Probably because that's not really what it does. It's more like a daily summary.

I tend to read a lot of industry specific news because that's what's applicable to me. General business or financial news isn't important other than just keeping an eye on what's going on. Spoke to a couple of mates who run their own businesses and they both said they follow industry specific feeds.

Which does tend to suggest @Ozzy that people read what's relevant to them rather than keep up to date with everything. So UKBF might want to advertise the Accounting forum on financial feeds and so on. On the other hand, if you are going to target startups and other beginners they probably won't be looking at any of source listed above. Freddie fresh out of Uni won't care about business news, he's too busy choosing a funky logo for his app.

@Ozzy sorry don't have them set up as a list. Thinking about what @fisicx had said I think its probably quite true most established business's probably follow very industry specific news and perhaps only dip in and out of general news ie BBC or radio and probably the latter whilst traveling. The up and coming unless very switched on seem to just rely on social media stories and have very little interest in whats was going on in the wider world My son (he's 30) complains about this all the time, why do so many of my clients have know idea whats going on in the world, supply issues etc etc they seem to have a very narrow scope. Thinking about the UKBF targeting news related items to the specific headings (if you are not already doing this) would seem like a good way forward. Also I would add same goes for advertising.

This is what I'm researching, and it will also shape the news structure and content of the new UKBF site structure I'm being asked to approve.

For general business news mostly BBC Radio 4. To get more information on a headline; google. But that's mostly just general interest. Stuff that actually useful comes from the trade media which is sector specific.

i expect my accountant to keep me informed on tax etc
