How do they make cash/profit 2

Hi the post by love2hire inspired me to post this.

After football training for the academy, me and my dad were heading home however the sat nav guided us to a different city route. Anyway let me get to the point haha there was a barbers with 4 seats for customers to get their hair cut. There were around 4 workers and only 2 customers inside. Now they were charging £3.50 per hair cut Usually I would pay 10 - 15£ ... so I decided to go in and no appointment no nothing I sat down and had my hair cut for £3.50. Better than the £10 one

Anyway what I struggle is to think how they make a profit.

The owner said they had been open for around two years, they don't do women's hair...

It was a fairly modern place, they had nice lighting, good floors, good clean set of chairs ... also a big 42inch hd tv placed at the corner...

Anyone got any ideas how they make a profit as its beyond me...:|

Quantity? If they had 20 customers per hour, that is £65, then say 4 * £6 for wages (Wages are very poor in hair dressing i believe..) that means that they have made a profit without any of the other costs. Also that might be a special offer, you will now go back, and even if they raised it to a fiver you would probably still go oui? And then £7 and you would still go, then they have a load more customers, loss leader

I doubt they get 20 customers. I went on a Saturday and there were only two at 3pm.

haha I would go if it went up to £10 seriously I loved the place If anyone is from Leicestershire it's called cuts or i think they had it cutz on your way to Thurmaston Town.

Well i must be honest i don't know about prime hair cutting times, someone comes to my house

Maybe not then, but maybe at some times, and as you said, you will go back, it could be a short term promotion.

They make their money by making pies out of portly customers.

Think yourself lucky you are not more rotund or you may have been placed in the 'special' chair.

They make their money during mid week lunchtimes.

I used to use a similar place in Croydon...spend ten minutes queing up and then you were in the chair. Before you knew it you were out the door having coughed up the mandatory £5.

The queues would be there for pretty much all of the day on weekdays
