How is everyone finding February for online sales?

We are in the furniture industry and its died since the end of January and from speaking to our suppliers we are not alone and it seems to be the case across the board.

February is probably my quietest month of the year with December and January being the busiest, it's not slowed down as much but it is still pretty quiet. Perhaps the recent weather doesn't help and people are nervous about delisted deliveries?

Most furniture companies out there try and go big for january sales.

In fact when i think of January sales i think of things like sofas, beds and things like that. I am sure i am not alone, so with that thinking in mind, most people would have already been looking to do their shopping previous month.

However i would certainly look over past 3 years of sales for you business to actually see if its a seasonal occurrence, or whether its just this year.

If it is just this year you really need to get your marketing department to figure out what is causing the downturn and fastly rectify the situation

Our year is the reverse of most peoples years. December is busy as people rush to get their spreadsheets ready for the new year. It then stays busy until around May while people try to get reports and financial data ready for the end of the financial year. From there until September is scarily quiet most years.

goog to hear i'm not alone, great sales with the build up to valentines day. then this week is dead. the 3rd week of the month always tends to be quiet as people be carfull with their money for their end of months bills.

should pick up last week of the month when people know if they have any spare money

i do find eccommerce very stressful, one day your making lots of money and breaking all your sales records the next your selling nothing, least i have this forum to keep my mind off it

Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately - the stuff I sell aren't really things that people buy as Valentine's presents (although at least one person did!) so I'm not affected by major festivals other than Christmas, so March hopefully won't be an issue. I've already got a fair number of orders for March, but I agree, days when you aren't getting orders in can be quite depressing.
