HMRC 'type of work' when you have two different incomes

Hello,

Asking on behalf of a family member.

Basically I've just helped them register for self-assessment and during that process was asked "What type of job do you do" by the registration form. They have two self-employed jobs which aren't related to each other, in completely different fields. Job A is the long term prefered job but doesn't currently have many clients, and Job B is the temporary one until Job A takes off. However Job B currently provides a larger income so is arguably the 'main' source.

Back to the question, I entered Job A as the type of job on the HMRC form - wasn't sure if you could/should enter multiple job types and my thinking was Job B is temporary anyway. Will this cause problems further down the line? From what I've read, HMRC don't really care where the income comes from as long as the tax is paid - just need someone to confirm this.

If I need to change it, how do I go about that?

The plan is to keep the incomes separate on the return.

Thanks in advance

Don't worry about changing it.

However, at self-assessment time, although the income is all aggregated together for the purpose of calculating the tax, separate forms SA103 (self-employment pages) should be completed for each of the two separate businesses.

It's just for information. Note any changes on their self assessment.

Great, thanks for your help. Glad to hear it's fine!
