Hiring NEC or Excel London

Hi all,

We are looking to hire the NEC Birmingham or Excel London for an exhibition. We would organise the event to 5000 b2b including shell stands for some companies. I have emailed them to ask for costs etc, but in the meantime has anyone hired any of the two venues before for around the same numbers? Looking for high level figure costs for hire?

Also does anyone know of any other venue that could host 5000 people? The only ones that keep showing on google are NEX and excel London

I have hired large spaces across the country and, although almost committing to Excel, did not move forward.

You need to look at the total space you require, not footfall. That space will be both exhibitor space and service/aisles.

At Excel, you were looking at a minimum 2000m2 (and lots thereof) if you use the main halls but there is smaller space in different locations.

Bare in mind additional costs such as security, cleaning, power etc.

5000 what?

If it's visitors then over what time period? Might only be 500/hr over a long day, even less for a multi-day event.

Farnborough Exhibition is one to consider. As a visitor ive been to a couple of large events and their space is very scaleable.

Its been a while since ive been to the NEC, but Excel is so easy to get to now the elizabeth line goes there (well, for me anyway!) so I would suggest the location needs to suit the people who would be coming and how far theyre are willing to travel to your event.

I have used it several times, although a few years ago, now.

A lovely, family run venue, Avril and her dad were always really good.

There are a couple of hotels in London that can host pretty big events - Novotel West in Hammersmith is one: The Societies of Photographers have used that for several years and get around 8000 visitors now I believe

The OP needs to work out what they need first - simply saying 5000 visitors is not enough!

Having attended and exhibited at various venues, there really are lots of variables, for example:

- Floorspace / layout.
- Indoor / outdoor.
- Accessibility.
- Accommodation/catering.
- Transport connections.

And many others.
