Hi
Would anyone be able to assist...?

We are a UK business based in London and due to take equipment from our London warehouse to Barcelona for a trade fair. The units are being hired by a UK company who are building the exhibition stand where our equipment will be used.
Can anyone tell me how we go about customs declaration as we leave UK / enter EU, and then same on return leg 1 week later? The equipment will be on our van with our staff driving.

Any clues??

Thanks!

    Hi Ian

I think that it will fall under the below Requested Procedure 23: Temporary export for return of goods in the unaltered state.
I haven't used this directly myself but a customer of mine has for demonstration of a product in France. @Customs Geek will be best to assist

    Hi

First off I would check with the organisers of the trade fair as they may have support for overseas exhibitors to help you navigate local customs requirements.

The temporary export procedure mentioned only declares the goods out of the UK. It basically gives you proof on the reimport that the goods left the UK in the first place. The UK allows for simplified duplicate lists and oral declarations to be used with accompanied tool’s equipment

The most complex part is getting the goods into and through the EU and back out again. There are temporary admission reliefs available but may need prior approval and financial guarantees.
So in effect you will need at least 4 customs declarations to get the goods out of the UK, into the EU , out of the EU and back into the UK.

It’s matter of choice but often the safest way is to use an ATA carnet which acts as import and export and eu transit documents. These are available from your local Chamber of Commerce but they will charge you .
