I have been fortunate enough in the last 14 years of business to come into contact with some really good people.

As part of being on UKBF I am more than willing to recommend someone if a member is looking for a certain service or product, safe in the knowledge that these people are good at what they do. (I wouldn't recommend them otherwise)

I am also more than willing to offer advice if I feel that it may help others to avoid the mistakes that I made years ago.

However, over the past few months I have sent countless PMs to people, giving away contacts to other members and yet I hardly ever get a reply and the person never gets a call.

If you come on here to ask for some help then please do one of two things:

1) Follow it up with a thank you, even if you are not interested.

2) Contact the people to discuss your requirements.

Otherwise, whats the point in asking?

The amount of people who come on here, post a question and then run away without following up is getting annoying.

(Rant over, I feel better now! :smile:)

Here here, there are far to many overnight members on here now and it seems that the genuine posts just get ignored or spammed on. I'm getting fed up with asking a question onyl to receive a load of service offers that I didn't request as a reply.

Actually we've got a lovely huge mirrow in 4 parts with the Key One Logo and the London sky line on painted on it. They looked great in the London office as it had very high ceilings. Looks a bit odd here though.

Going back to JBs original point - I guess that's just the nature of fourms generally and there's not much you can do about it except to stop offering your contacts and help - but then we'd all lose out.

Ignore him Jackqui (totm for him!).

I think its rude of some when you do offer them help and send them info that a quick thanks back would seem manners! But hey, these days I expect nothing, so when I get nothing back it just confirms to me what a disrespectful and rude society we live in!

I've been on this forum for just over a month now. during that time I've had countless questions answered fully (even the daft ones), loads of PMs and emails, Met someone face to face to discuss business, and had some very useful conversations on the phone. They were all hugely professional and clearly far more experienced than myself. I'd hate to see those people desert the forum.

I've had people come back to me months after posting a solution or PM'ing a quote - I had forgotten about it - and even if I had remembered, I would have presumed they had forgotten!

So sometimes pepole just keep you in mind for ages and when the times right get in contact again :) - It's always nice to get a thanks or a response if you've helped them out or responded to a request they've made but I guess that rightly or wrongly people are too busy, forget, prioritise or don't check the right email address etc etc

I've also had others reading responses made to someone elses problem that they also have and contacting us for help which is great.

It doesn't help though when people send replies to the wrong email address.

Well using JB as an example, I for one asked JB to send me some of his business cards because I had a few people ask for documents to be translated. I have handed out about 10 of his cards to these people, not knowing whether anything has come from it at all or not.
But then again, Im happy to help on the basis it looks good on me to be able to help and I get that warm feeling that I am helping someone else. This is what true networking is all about. Unfortunately, you will always get those agressive hunter type sales people who will use any form of networking (online or offline) to just try and push their services at you. These people soon get bored of the lack of response and disappear (overnight members on here for example).

As mentioned earlier - please all of you do report spam posts using the red triangle so it highlighs spam posts to the mods. It makes it a lot easier to clear them up if our attention is drawn to them. I'm going to report a post on here so I can see what happens though as I didn't see that triangle until Duane pointed it out - oops.
