Hi All,

I have recently started a bookkeeping freelance business. I am trying to figure out how to advertise the business on a small budget (stressful!). I can work online with any company in the UK if they like use of the internet. Does anyone have any advice on how to get people to find my website?

Also does anyone have leads data on new/startup businesses that they wish to share/sell on?

Many thanks

My friend you have just posted in the perfect place :)

A small investment in becoming a full member on UKBF and of course offering advise via posting on here will be the best £40 you can spend on getting yourself found anywhere.

I did also have a great website for newly registered businesses a while back but annoyingly enough cannot locate the address. I will post it here if I can find it or it comes back to mind.

It will be also a great idea to register on a forums that are relative to your topic and become a live member there. Then you can advice people your services and you can get a good amount of goal audience.

I know 5 local freelance book keepers and can tell you how all of them get most of their work:

1) Networking - Going out and meeting local businesses at networking events
2) Getting to know accountants - They will always be looking to outsource the book keeping.

You don't need to advertise, just get into the 2 above and you will get swamped with work.

There are many ways of marketing for free. And these techniques do not mean they are dud. Have a look around you and see where you can promote your business. Avoid the pitfalls of spending money on expensive campaigns. Frankly, many are a waste of time and money for the small start up business.
Good luck !
