We are a new start up skincare business. Our products are currently being formulated and based on scientific research for our niche market. The age range of our target market is between 23-45, women, pregnant and postnatal women specifically. We will have serums, creams, lotions.

At the outset we were inclined to go for classic gold caps / clear bottles, classic and timeless in style. We then investigated black and white / monochrome styles as we felt that these bottles/jars had a more clinical theme, keeping the logo black and white too. Having obtained a few objective viewpoints on these styles / colour schemes, the general feeling was that it was too safe / middle of the road, people wouldn't think it was 'cool' enough. We are going for a lux feel. The alternative option suggested to us is to go for something more pastel coloured. This certainly looks more aesthetically pleasing, more interesting, but I just query whether it appeals to a younger age group.

Can I get some views please based on what you would be more drawn to? I would've liked to attach photos of the options we're considering but it doesn't seem to let me attach my own images?

Pay for a bunch of samples and do some market testing. Nobody here can tell you what's right or wrong - you won't know until you test.

Surely your graphic designer will be doing this for you.

This may sound rather obvious and I apologise if you have done this already but I would certainly pay a visit to the places you anticipate selling your products through in the future and ask yourselves how to make your product stand out from the others on the shelf ..... is it just the type of container, colour does it need to be boxed etc what's going to draw the customers eye to your product over someone else's if it was sitting there alongside others ....... apart from brand recognition that is
