Hi Ripon here - well four miles out of Ripon if I'm honest - we are all taking the day off on Thursday and taking the grandchildren to the Yorkshire Show - I expect it will rain again. though we hope it holds off until the end of the day for a change

Ooo not far from me, we are about 5 miles away from Ripon. Which direction are you in, we are just off the A1.

Cross Hills is my business and home village; it is placed just inside North Yorkshire near Skipton, but also edges onto West Yorkshire and Lancashire hence the name of Cross Hills as three counties converge.

Hi everyone. Seen as I'm about to move from sunny South Africa to not so sunny Thirsk, I think I almost qualify to post in the North Yorkshire sub-forum.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

How about we arrange to just meet in a pub that is central; perhaps Skipton or Northallerton. Bring business cards and arrange to meet in one area.

Any suggestions? We want to keep costs down to a minimum for networking as does everyone else.

How about we make a meet up point in a mutually convenient 'mid way' point such as Skipton/Northallerton and have a pub 'tea' after work. That should cost us nothing other than petrol/transport and a snack and drink. We could bring business cards and do a 60 second presentation about our businesses, swop details and keep in touch by email/phone after that. It would be good for business i.e. referrals and support. We could meet every month afterwards at the same place if it is successful.

Hi

Sorry I kicked off the thread and just come back saw messages.

1. I am based in Harrogate and run a Interim Admin and Marketing Support business which covers all aspects of admin support to businesses onsite if in Harrogate District and virtually for other businesses. The difference to hiring V95 to a temp is that I am committed to the contract and I learn your business through supporting so can step in easily at times of holidays and sickness. I become the PA's Pal so when stressed with very difficult deadlines to meet she knows she can call on my services as overflow and not feel threatened.

2.I also offer ecommerce / cms site update services.

Thought I would get this in as my TomTom died this morning in the middle of Leeds so I have been riding around the ring road for last 20 mins and missed the BNI that I was invited to. So I am networking with you guys!!!!

3. I think it would be a good idea to have a network event perhaps December for a drink and card swapping session.

Any takers for co-ordinating.... Promise I will know where to go!:)

Sam

I find that being a member of the BNI has brought me a substantial amount of work. Also once you join and are committed to supporting the group you find other 'network' doors opening.

chatting online is okay but very time consuming and trying to organise a get together when we are so far spread is not a task I am prepared to put the time in to organise as my time is very short.

I hope you find someone to sort out a network get together. Otherwise look at the BNI website for the UK. Just google it.

Hi Janice,

I am in West Yorkshire - just. I live in Silsden, so North Yorkshire is reasonably accessible to me.
What BNI/networking groups are you involved in? Would be interested in understanding local opportunities, and if they have proved beneficial to you and your business.

Yes a meet up for North Yorks Business Networkers sounds a great idea.

I have been to 2 networking groups recently BOB Business over Breakfast in Skipton and BNI @ Utopia Broughton Hall.

There is also another in Skipton and one over Ilkley/Otley way.

Hey Guys,
I live in Wetherby and work in Harrogate. I know the Leeds area as well and hope I can help some of you and also you can help me!

I work for CEC Serviced Offices. We provide serviced offices, meeting rooms and also vertual offices, for anyone working from home but would like a city centre postal address and we can answer your calls and forward to you, like a free PA!!

We have just opened in Harrogate, in Copthall Bridge House, opposite the cinema on the 2nd floor (above the library).

We are doing some great introductory deals (£50/ full day for a meeting room with comp tea & coffee) or £500 referal fee if you refer someone to us who takes an office from us.

If you are interested in any of the above then drop me a line. Would love to solve one of your problems in the Yorkshire area.

So what does everyone else out there do?

Hi
I'm from York and have just started up as a Virtual PA. Pretty much a bit of everything from marketing, to mail shots to databases to whatever. Although as a Virtual PA I can't pick up your dry cleaning for you!! Will be good to have some local contacts.

I don't think I will be able to make this one Mike as I have a job interview and a Client to see that day. (Still not decided whether to just change job or make a go of this full time eventually and stick with the current job till that happens).

Let me have the details and I will see if can juggle the diary. Thanks.
