Gordan or David: Who will win it?

Who do you think is most likely to win the general election - Gordon Brown or David Cameron?

Probably not, but there's a fair chance he'll one of the few winners by being a force in the new coalition government: playing a visible, minor but not trivial role. He'll have his feet under the table for the first time in decades, while the actual 2010 "winner" gets beat up in 2015, if not before, for having to deal with such a mess. If he plays his cards right...

It looks highly likely that Clegg will hold the balance of power, given the current polls.

However, my guess is that a lot of voters have not yet made up their minds and some won't until they are actually in the polling station. A bit like 1992, the actual result could be a surprise.

It hardly matters, they are all crooks, madmen and thieves, regardless of which party gets in. Party politics has proved itself in the UK as not working, they put the good of their own party way above the job they are supposed to do for the country.

Apparently, in their view, it is more important to look after Labour, Conservative, etc, than it is to look after Britain.

Behead the lot as an example to future generations, and start again with no parties at all. It will take a while before they figure out how to get anything done, but at least when they do it, a proper debate will have happened and individuals will have looked at the pros and cons for the benefit of the country.

Earl you've lost me, I know I only watched some of it, what did I miss that indicates Brown will keeo the keys to No 10:)

My prediction: The Tories will win an outright majority of fewer than 5 seats. The many undecided voters will stick with one of the big two parties, and I suspect too many are fed up with the rogues in power. The Lib Dems are great at coming in second place, but second place in a constituency is close but no cigar.

seems to me he alienated 8 million voters or enough of those 8 million to swing ot away to someone else.

P,S as usual I am voting for Che guevara on the grounds that I refuse to participate in my own suicide.

and hung parliment may be better than picking one of those meglomaniacs .;)

his words ( 5 million on benefits and 3 million on disibility )

Ludicrous saying he was going to get them all working.

There are thousands being made redundant every week .where are the jobs going to appear from.?

I'm not so sure. I believe a vast majority of people don't have an in-depth knowledge of politics, and many probably don't understand the implications of a hung parliament.

I even saw an interview on TV today of an undecided voter and she said she would vote for conservative because 'Cameron seems easier to get along with'. :|

Nick Clegg is an option for any undecided voter who is sick of Labour and weary of the Tories and their past. Clegg is in the ideal position of a strong PR stance and lack of public negative history. Many of his policies and views also appear to be quite solid to a lot of people, and they relate well to the average voter.

Plus, people like the underdog. ;)

.

I do strongly agree with this and I'm surprised that no one has done a massive poll to see just on what basis people actualy vote - perhaps they have, but I'm not aware of it, I think the results would make for startling reading....

I would guess the same.
I think that for those who do understand the economic arguments, Cameron will get the vote and that make the difference, just.

There are thousands being made redundant every week .where are the jobs going to appear from.?

They could appear from SME's in the private sector, particularly if we had a govt that removed some of the red tape and cost of employment.

Cameron has made some noises in that direction. If they can get the detail right then it could happen. Those jobs in the private sector will create wealth, particularly if they are in manufacturing exports, or exporting services.

Jobs in the public sector are necessary, but create no wealth at all. That's the fundamental difference between Brown and Cameron that came out in the last debate (but not strongly enough). Continuing the recovery by expenditure in the govt sector using borrowed money vs encouraging the private sector to create wealth.

A no-brainer, in my view, unless you are living the life of Riley on benefits or in a govt non-job.

there won't be many more jobs created if they keep taxing people who have earned themselves a decent living thus employing people within there own companies.

it seems that the current government think its fine to tax both the rich and the poor to ridiculous levels and then say something stupid like i love you..oh no..i mean 'British Jobs for British People'...nudge nudge..'get me some Polish people to be bodyguards, they're cheap'

we have a backstabbing government and i really do not see how any of the other parties are any different, Cleggy lies and gets very very angry if you dare to question what he's saying..so does Cameron..they get quite rude about it and start ranting if you dare to say 'no you're wrong' because of course..they are NEVER wrong and we should know that.

the politicians just DON'T GET IT! thats the statement people say to me over and over again..they really really don't understand that we cannot continue in this way, we're already taxed to hell and we've had enough of the kissing baby photos and the 'lets buy each other an ice cream and pose for the nice cameraman'..people want real leaders, not photo opportunists and incompetent banana waving idiots.

i'm just back from the polling station. i voted Labour, i don't understand why peoople keep who they voted for a secret. I love a politcal debate.

Lib Dems - inexperienced and party isn't equipt for running government. Pretty sure Clegg hasn't left Sheffield before.

Tory - Cameron is just a new Blair, full of false promises to just beat Labour. Can't be taking money out the economy at this point in time.

Labour - Brown is the only one with experience and knows what to do in terms of the economy. He might look ill and make a fool out of himself in puiblic a lot but has some good realistic ideas.
