Free SEO site check.

automated reports will check the basic things like title desc length
missing h1 and other basic stuff which we already know.

I disagree with you. As someone involved in SEO you may well know all these things but others may not necessarily know as they may well earn their living from outside the internet industry.

I have over 100 pages on my web site and the easiest way to make sure that there are no errors with the basic things that you have mentioned are by using automated reports like the one you are dissing.

Except these automated reports are often wrong.

That reports fails my site because it not connected to SM accounts. It also says I don't use GA but fails to spot the analytics tool I do have installed. and it fails because I don't have a sitemap.

Most of the rest of the advice is worthless.

OK. But the problem is you may end up making things worse if you follow their advice.

Far better to talk to people who know what they are doing. Ray's excellent course will tell you exactly what to do: https://www.freshbananas.co.uk/

hello sir, you are right that SEO person knows these and it might not be helpful. free automated reports are good for a person who don't know SEO. but SEO is more than that free & automated report. if you can get easily free site checkup and solve the issues, why would SEO companies charge clients for services? because those reports are not enough to rank your site first sir.

Quite correct but that wasn't the question that was asked

I’m struggling to understand why someone with a skill that can earn a shed load of money, would want to create a course to teach anyone those skills for a relatively small fee. In the same way those people who earn £20,000 a week would bother writing a book on “how to earn £20,000 a week”

However, I’m going to give this Fresh Bananas course a try.

I just need to finish of my current book, “How to get girlfriends by Hypnosis” and I have a Nigerian prince who wants my help getting his family fortune in to the UK.

Well I'd like to say it was simply out of the goodness of my heart but the reality is even more simple, I'm trying to wind down on working full time and this seemed like a natural progression to help others to do what I'm able to do.

I can vouch for the Freshbanana's course it is very good and well worth the money for someone like me starting with off with minimum SEO knowledge it does liternally give you step by steps guide on doing your own SEO, especially when finding your keywords

yeah, but I read the conversation and that's why I replied you, sir.
and the answer to the post is few times I used that service when I was a newbie.
it gives all over a report of a site. it can be helpful to the person who doesn't know much about SEO and can make changes according to report. but SEO is more than that.

I would download the free version of WebSite Auditor and use that. It will validate html code etc, it also indicates how well each page on your site is with regard to onsite. H1 tages, page titles etc, it then compares your site to the 10 ten competing websites for the keywords you've selected - so you can then optimise bit by bit - until you are in the same ball park as your competitors for onsite SEO.

Once that is done - then you can start worrying about the offsite SEO. If you do buy - you can then always offer this as a service to others.

I think you need to update your calendar :)
WebSite Auditor dropped Google PageRank about the same time as Google did about 2 or so years ago (Jan 2016 I think). It uses InLink Rank and MOZ PA/DA to calculate authority

I'm just repeating what it says on their website. Moz PA/DA is a huge red herring - it's a meaningless score (much like pagerank used to be).

You can take your pick - if you dont trust Moz PA/DA data (fair enough), then use the InLink Rank calculation instead.

What is your solution ?

(ps I know we are wandering off down tangent boulevard here - as the OP isnt interested in this level of discussion I think)

Ignore it completely. SEO checkers will lead you in the wrong direction. A site is a holistic whole, a good site is structured to lead the visitor (including Google) to the right information. If you structure your site properly you will have done 90% of the SEO work. It's not about keyword density, comparison with competitors, meta data and all the other guff. It's about relevance and value added - something google has been saying for years.

I agree (to a certain extent) you site needs to be written in a way that answers questions, informs what is on offer, what it does, how much it costs and the benefits etc - but that is basic marketing & sale - and should be taken as a given.

Ive run WSA on lots of mine and customers websites when doing checks - and you would be amazed how badly some sites are constructed, no H1 tags, rubbish page titles, not enough content etc. And when you then use it to compare against the top 10 other websites for you chosen 'keyword phrase' - you will always find that they are well optimised in terms of all the onsite SEO.

So I tweak the stuff - until Im in the same ball park - and work on the rest of it - usually without touching the content (works for me)

Using these kind of tools like seo site check is always a risk always remember that because these automated only shows the basic or the surface but not the internal which is usually the most important.
