Free Fax (to e-mail) Service - Help!

I'm looking for a free fax-to-email service with the following criteria:

  • an 0844 number (I suppose 0870 would do);
  • no costs whatsoever;
  • readable on any computer without having to download special software
  • one where I can change the e-mail address to which the faxes are directed, whenever I want;
  • one that doesn't automatuically expire after 6 months inactivity
  • one with unlimited in-bound faxes
The last 2 points are negotiable. If there ar eany other things I should be looking for, please advise.

Could any kindly soul help, please? The Internet is full of services yet none seems staightforward and fulfilling of the above criteria. I'm having business cards made, so it needs to be something that will be around for a few years.

Thanks again
PD

the only thing i can see that might cause you problems, based on your criteria, is that you must receive at least 1 fax every 90 days.

we haven't gone this long without receiving one but if we did. i'd just send myself one to keep the service going.

this is the link to the their different packages info

But, Steve, doesn't one have to purchase a number with Voiphone? I just want a simple, no-frills service really.

No. 0870 are free. We can probably also provide a free 0843 - but that's not advertised yet.

Our service does everything on your list - and quite a bit more.

I'm going to cheekily jump into your thread to see if anyone knows if I can get an American fax number with all the above from somewhere!? (please!?)

This is quite an amazing thread when you weigh it up.

I wonder how many other businesses you could make detailed demands of to provide complex products - for free - and now in another country......

I've had a couple of rsponses from free providers - but I'm not sure they can help unless I move over existing projects to them or have high volume.

I suppose I just want a simple, no-frills, no-strings but professional service.

Can anyone help, I wonder?

Thanks in advance.

I keep saying YES. What is it you think we can't do for you?

Hi all,

Boy you learn something everyday.

Being a techno-phobe I did not even realise this was a possibility...
We currently use an old school fax which someone has to tinker with almost daily.

So then for the stupid question of the day :

I have a printer which I am told can copy, therefore could I use one of these services to send fax's and receive fax's, all through e-mails ???

One business I have an interest in is a mortgage brokerage where a lot of the work is undertaken remotely and this may hugely speed up the administration.

Sorry for jumping in but looks like the people viewing this thread are "in the know"

Happy for anyone to ping me some relevant information.

On (almost) all of my Konica Minolta range we have the option to add a fax machine into a multifunction copier/printer.

Once in, this machine is then plugged into the main incoming fax line, as well as being the network printer and office copier/scanner. All incoming faxes can then then be set to forward as PDFs to a nominated email address for viewing, forwarding or printing, as you wish.

It would be worth checking if your multifunction can do this. If not, give me a shout and we can look at the lowest cost machine that can do this for you.

cheers

Paul

That'll be because we don't do international fax numbers!
