Franchise marketing

I am in need of some marketing advice regarding our franchise launch which is taking place on 1 May.

We are the first and only pet sitting company to secure the RSPCA services as part of our training programme, and having seen other pet sitting franchises, I believe that our training programme will be thevery best.

The pet sitting industry is currently unregulated, which has really spurred me into the world of franchising. I want each franchisee to undergo an on line pet sitting course which leads to accreditation, with two weeks experience with the RSPCA.

Our franchise package will also stipulate that a rescue centre of choice be adopted by the franchisee, where they will offer support and fund raising throughout the year.

This leaves me three weeks for marketing and I would really appreciate suggestions :)

You can use PRweb.com to distribute press releases online. It's easy enough to do and you can check other releases for an idea of format and what to include.

In terms of local press, I'd say giving them a call and telling them your story would be better than online PR. It might also be worth contacting franchise magazines and see if they'd like to do an interview with you. Worth checking out franchise conferences, tradeshows, etc.

Another route may be to contact local rescue centres and chat to them about finding possible franchisees for you. If I get your plan right, that would benefit them in the long run. Maybe local pet shop owners would be a good target to see if they'd be interested in taking a franchise on?

I'd definitely recommend using Facebook and Twitter as much as you can. It's a good way to keep people connected with you after you drum up interest and would be good for publishing future news and company information.

Good luck with the venture! Sounds like a great idea!

Yes, I am already posting on twitter & facebook but hoping some of the dog mags may be interested. Sadly the pet sitting industry remains unregulated and there are so many rogue sitters out there, giving us a bad name.

By providing our franchisees with the correct training, I hope at least, we will be flying the flag
