Hi there,

I have been advised to form a LTD company rather than be a sole trader.

My accountants will charge £176.25 to do it all for me.

I have googled it all and there are lots of companies doing it for cheap.

I found one called company formations 247 (companyformations247 .com) who said they can do everything for £79.24 (£129.24 then get £50 cashback)

Has anyone used this company before?

Anyone recommend good companies?

I dont really understand anything about LTD company formation and what I need and dont need with the different packages.

Any advice would be great,

Many Thanks,

Tom

My advice would be that as you don't understand anything about it, you should pay your accountant to do it for you and hopefully get it done properly. £176.25 seems reasonable to me on the assumption that they are going to deal with all the other paperwork linked to company formation

If you want to be really cheap try here:

http://www.quickformations.com/site/quickname.qmd

Quickformations is run by the founder of this forum, I've used them to form a company and would recommend.

However, as Kent Accountant pointed out, if you know nothing of what you are doing then it would make sense for you to pay to get good advice. Read some of the threads on this forum about what can go wrong if companies are not formed correctly at the outset.

Who advised you? Was it an accountant? If it was then you may do well to ask them why and how.

I dont really understand anything about LTD company formation and what I need and dont need with the different packages.

In that case seek professional advice. We form thousands of companies every year for individuals and accountants. Many accountants actually refer customers to us directly. However, if you are not sure why you are forming the company and how you should set up the shares then speak to your accountant. It may avoid errors and save you time and money in the long run.

I expect your accountant will also advice you on other things.

Complete Formations provide company registration services starting from £24.99. We have a range of packages and additional products and services which might be of interest.
Do take the advice given previously though and make sure you understand what you are doing and most importantly that forming a limited company is right for you.

hi Tom,

I was facing the same problem as you earlier this week. It was made slightly easier as my accountant told me they wanted 250 to set it up. Generously they advised me against using them!! I used a company called formations direct which they recommended and i paid £66.00.

www.switchmedia.co.uk

Switch Media PLC

Tel: 0151 236 9111

I registered here, but the web site was a bit tricky so I went into their office and they helped me.
I live just round the corner from them so i was lucky, but if you have problems just call them and im sure they will help.
I think they have updated the site now, so it should be simple.

We will do it for £100 (plus VAT) which includes advice on trading as a limited company, and if it is the best option for you.

For £150 you would get the formation, a bank account opened, PAYE registration, Corporation Tax registration, and (if required) VAT registration.

For £250 you would get all of the above plus a website.
